Here’s the strange meaning behind Jaden Smith’s castle outfit he wore to the Grammys

It’s absolutely bonkers and now I need to know more

Jaden Smith confused literally the entire world on Sunday after he attended the 2025 Grammys with an enormous castle fastened to his head. Why? Because he wanted to it seems.

People on Twitter have said that last night’s Grammys was the best in years, in part due to viral moments like Bianca Censori’s dress – or lack thereof – and the memes that were sparked from it. There were countless more fashion moments, some good and some bad, but one look that is still being talked about is Jaden Smith’s.

Jaden attended the ceremony with his Grammy nominee sister Willow, with her sporting an edgy black blazer and underwear combo. Perhaps feeling a little lacklustre next to her gorgeous display, Jaden accented his Louis Vuitton tuxedo with a gothic castle from Abodi Transylvania.

Here’s the meaning behind Jaden Smith’s Grammys castle

Jaden Smith has always pushed the boundaries of fashion to varied success, and while some undoubtedly serve, his castle from Abodi Transylvania might be a little too niche.

The brand, which also sells normal clothes, prides itself on wearable art inspired by the designer Dora Abodi whose heritage dates back to the 16th century when her family was granted nobility by Prince István Báthor.

“Abodi’s cosmos brings to life mythical creatures such as the brand’s icon, the Unisus, a four-headed dragon, the Cat Mermaid, the Animal Soul, an eternal night creature: The Vampyr, the Moon and Sun King and Time Travellers, all captured in sculptural garments, ceramics and illustrations,” a description on their website site reads.

But honestly, after reading up on the bizarre art piece I am left with even more questions.

As per the brand’s Instagram, Jaden’s castle aims to combine the “mysterious elegance of Abodi Transylvania” with modern designs inspired by “Transylvanian history and the vampire legends of the Bathori.” It retails for a staggering €4.500,00.

The description continues: “The ‘Vampire Castle’ headpiece is not merely a fashion accessory, but a symbol of eternity, sensuality, and resilience. It reminds us of the importance of understanding our origins, the need for personal renewal, and the courage to remain steadfast in our dreams and ideas.

“It encourages bold individuality, refusing to conform or blend into the background. The inhabitants of the ABODI Vampire Castle are warriors of legend—fearless, bold and eternal.”

But what are the vampire legends of the Bathori and what do they have to do with the Grammys?

In the 17th century, rumours swirled about Countess Elizabeth Báthory being a vampire who bathed in women’s blood to maintain her youth. In reality, she was a serial killer with a kill count of hundreds. Nonetheless, those rumours have inspired everything from modern horror films to Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

But this is where I get a little confused. Did I miss the theme being vampires? Was it a smart political statement I’m clearly not intelligent enough to understand? Did Willow release a vampire song and Jaden was merely paying his respects? I understand the meaning of the art piece, but I don’t get why he chose to wear it to the Grammys of all places. Make it make sense.

Regardless of our collective confusion, Jaden’s fashion tactic worked because it’s all anyone can talk about.
