Dutch Princess Alexia has made her first appearance as a student at UCL.

The 19-year-old is currently second in the line of succession to the Dutch throne.

She had previously taken a gap year but has now chosen multi-disciplinary subject, science and engineering for social change.

According to a post from the Dutch Royal Household on Instagram, the princess’ study time is “private”.

The caption read: “Princess Alexia is in London where she will be starting her studies at University College London this week. She is starting the Bachelor of Science and Engineering for social change at the faculty of engineering. The Princess’ study time is considered private.”

The princess had initially been expected to study in The Netherlands and had been “a bit stressed about choosing” according to the NL Times.

Other London unis that have also been home to royalty include Goldsmith’s, which hosted Princess Beatrice until 2011, and LSe, where Crown Prince Haakon of Norway studied an MSc in developmental studies.
