Jack went through Teach First to become a maths teacher after uni

But don’t just take it from us – Jack, a Manchester grad and current maths teacher who went through Teach First, told us that candidates are made more employable by having just done the course alone: “I’ll leave with a teaching qualification that’ll mean I’m always in demand in and out of the classroom. Most of their sponsors, including Deloitte, KPMG, and Goldman Sachs recognise that if you’ve gone through a programme with Teach First, you’ll inevitably make a great employee.

“I wanted something where I’d be able to see a real impact, rather than looking at bank balances every day. Teaching was always something that I could see myself in – I went to a little comprehensive school in Chorley and really looked up to my teachers, including my deputy head, who literally got me through A Levels and inspired me to become head boy. The support I received in school provided me with a lot of guidance and I always wanted to pay it forward.

“I found Teach First and their internship programme during my second year of uni. During that time, I put the work in and did well in the assessments, and they offered me a position on the graduate course there and then. Joining their programme when I graduated meant that I could spend a couple of years making a difference, with the choice to continue if I wanted, so it seemed like a no brainer to me.”

When you add all of the other perks to the mix, such as being able to train and work with a vast mixture of people, or that you’ll be learning with and teaching alongside other grads, it’s really a no brainer for the grad that doesn’t necessarily want to move into the hustle-bustle of the city.

Wouldn’t it be nice to go into a scheme that equips you with so many skills – all while making a difference? You’re literally 5 minutes away from applying for a banging grad job, so why wouldn’t you? Click below now!
