Lancaster to host it’s first-ever ‘Krazy’ soapbox race

The award-winning phenomenon will take place this September in Williamson Park

This September, Krazy Races is bringing its “award-winning soapbox phenomenon” to Lancaster’s Williamson Park in collaboration with The Royal Kings Arms Hotel.

From 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday, September 17th, thousands of spectators are set to descend on Williamson Park in Lancaster to cheer on the “krazy, wacky, and outrageous” soapbox downhill racers at Lancaster Krazy Races.

Each racer will launch themselves from the highest point at Williamson Park in carefully hand-crafted karts and tackle a track with chicanes, obstacles, water, and more.

Competitors must work their work through a knockout-stage competition, with the ten fastest cars making it through to the final. They will then battle it out to take home the winner’s trophy. Prizes are also available for showmanship, innovation, and the best-dressed racer or team.

The event begins at 11 am with the official event opening procession, with the racing set to start at 11:15 and a lunch break between 1:30 and 2:30 pm. Racing will continue until 5:30 when the prize giving & awards commence before the event closes at 7 pm. Live music and local food will be available throughout the day, with a chance to check out all of the soapboxes in the Pit area.

More information about Lancaster Krazy Races and proceedings for the day is available on their website and Facebook Page. Furthermore, the form to enter the competition is also available here.
