Shut up! Here’s what the Mean Girls cast look like 20 years on from the film’s release

We’re just days away from the new Mean Girls musical being released in theatres, after a (sorry) seriously tragic trailer teasing the film at the end of last year. And last night Lindsay Lohan surprised OG Mean Girls fans by stepping out at the Mean Girls Musical premier, alongside the film’s writer Tina Fey.

Lindsay’s appearance, obviously, caused a wistful look back at photos from the original Mean Girls premier in 2004. “I miss the spray tan of our collective youth,” wrote one fan of her noticeably paler skin tone. “That turquoise off-the-rack Valentino number is deeply important to me,” added another.

So, in case you’re also feeling nostalgic, here’s a round-up of what all of the 2004 Mean Girls cast look like now— ten years on from the film’s iconic premier.

Rachel McAdams – Regina George

By the time Mean Girls premiered in 2004, Rachel had fully ditched her Regina George wig and returned to her natural brunette. Still can’t believe she filmed The Notebook in the same year, tbh. An icon.

Lacey Chabert – Gretchen Wieners

Lacey has had a wild ride through fame. Before Mean Girls she was the voice of Eliza Thornberry in The Wild Thornberrys and the original voice of Meg Griffin in Family Guy before Mila Kunis took over. Mad.

Amanda Seyfried – Karen Smith

Amanda Seyfried is so baby faced in her 2004 pic I could cry. And look at where she is now, reuniting at the Golden Globes with her on-screen Mamma Mia mum: Meryl Streep. Sob.

Lizzy Caplan – Janis Ian

Lizzy Caplan has been in so many iconic things since Mean Girls it’s actually tough to keep track. The Interview, Now You See Me, Fatal Attraction, Fleishman Is in Trouble— but she’s still putting peppermint foot cream in Regina’s face wash in our mind’s eye.

Daniel Franzese – Damian

Damian was always one of the most iconic Mean Girls characters. And in the two decades since 2004, Daniel has been busy campaigning for HIV/AIDS awareness, doing stand up sets and appearing on RuPaul’s drag race. A man of so many talents.

Tina Fey – Ms. Norbury

Is it just me or does Tina Fey simply not age? She honestly could have teleported from the OG premier to the musical Mean Girls launch.

Tim Meadows – Mr Duvall

Tim Meadows continued to act after Mean Girls but has mostly done TV and voiceover work in recent years. Last year, he was in an episode of the baby Yoda show The Mandalorian as Colonel Tuttle.

Rajiv Surendra – Kevin G

Since 2004 Rajiv has become an author, releasing a book called The Elephant in My Backyard in 2017. The entire plot is about his failed attempt to get the lead role in the Life of Pi despite the fact he had similarities to the character because he grew up next to Toronto Zoo. It might sound like a fever dream, but the novel actually saw Rajiv nominated for multiple awards.

And he even worse his Mathletes jacket to the Mean Girls musical premier. Sobbing.

Jonathan Bennett – Aaron Samuels

After Mean Girls and Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Jonathan branched out into presenting work and is about to make an appearance on Broadway as Sir Robin in Spamalot alongside Ariana Grande’s new boyfriend. Worlds truly are colliding.

Lindsay Lohan – Cady Heron

And finally, our Lindsay. She might have ditched the fake tan and DUIs but she’s still slaying on red carpets and dancing her nights away in Mykonos beach bars. A member of the Hollywood hall of fame. End of.
