Arrests, awards and becoming artists: 30 years on, what the cast of Home Alone are up to now

Can you believe it’s now been over 30 years since the Home Alone cast created what would go on to become one of the biggest Christmas films in history?

Kevin has kids of his own, and loads of the other characters have gone on to have huge careers since the film. The stars have won awards for their acting, become athletes, authors and even artists. They really have been booked, busy, and up to a whole range of things since the film in the 90s.

So, as you definitely get into the mood to watch the film for the 100th time, if you haven’t already this festive season, here’s what the cast of Home Alone are all up to now.

Macaulay Culkin – Kevin McCallister

Home Alone catapulted Macaulay Culkin into the public eye, and he was just 10 when he played Kevin. He’s 43 now, and has been in a relationship with Brenda Song (London Tipton from Suite Life) since 2017. They share two children together.

His most recent career ventures are appearing as Mickey on season 10 of American Horror Story in 2021, and Macaulay launched the comedy brand Bunny Ears in 2017, which has a website, podcast and video content.

Macaulay has just had a huge celebratory milestone – unveiling his new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Joining him there was Catherine O’Hara, who played his Home Alone mother. “Home Alone was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation,” she said. “The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.”

Joe Pesci – Harry Lime

Joe Pesci played lead burglar, Harry. He’s an Oscar winner, known for his collaborations with Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese in the films Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, and The Irishman. Pesci received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, which he accepted with one of the shortest speeches in Oscar history. All he said was, “It’s my privilege. Thank you” before leaving the stage.

Joe is 80 now, and has one daughter.

Daniel Stern – Marv Murchins

Daniel Stern played the other half of The Wet Bandits burglars, Marv. He is now 66, and has had a huge career as an actor, artist, director, and screenwriter. He has been married since 1980, and has three children.

He’s starred in TV series The Wonder Years, and directed TV series such as Manhattan. He has also appeared in Rookie of the Year, Viva Las Vegas, A Previous Engagement and as Phil Berquist in City Slickers.

As an artist, Daniel specialises in bronze sculpture. He has created sculptures for public art projects in San Diego, Pasadena, Palm Desert, Temple City, Monrovia, and Agoura Hills, and he is an artist in residence at Studio Channel Islands Art Centre in Camarillo.

Catherine O’Hara – Kate McCallister

Catherine O’Hara played Kevin’s mother, Kate. After this, the actress voiced Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Penny in Over the Hedge and Mrs. Frankenstein in Frankenweenie. She has also had roles in Tall Tale, Best in Show, Surviving Christmas, and For Your Consideration.

As well as film, Catherine has had a huge TV career. You might recognise her as Jackie in Pain Hustlers, or Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek – a role which earned her an Emmy in 2020.

Catherine, who is now 69, married production designer Bo Welch in 1992 and they share two children.

John Heard – Peter McCallister

John Heard played Kevin’s father, Peter. He’s also been in a bunch of TV shows, such as The Client, The Sopranos, Jack & Bobby, Prison Break and he had a guest appearance on NCIS: Los Angeles. He also appeared in a number of successful films, including Heart Beat, Cutter’s Way, Cat People, Beaches, and Deceived.

In 2017, John Heard sadly passed away, after suffering a heart attack brought on by heart disease. He had two sons and a daughter.

Devin Ratray – Buzz McCallister

Buzz, played by Devin Ratray, was the nasty older brother of Kevin. Since Home Alone, he has appeared in Hawaii Five-O and The Good Wife, as well as having lent his voice to a character in Red Dead Redemption Two. He also had a recurring role in Amazon’s The Tick.

In December 2021, Devin was arrested for assault and battery after an alleged altercation with his girlfriend in a hotel. His charges included one count of domestic assault and battery by strangulation, and another count of domestic assault and battery.

Kieran Culkin – Fuller McCallister

Yes, Macaulay Culkin’s brother was in Home Alone! He played Fuller, Kevin’s cousin. He is now 41, and married with two children.

His most recent big role was as Roman Roy in Succession. He was nominated for a Golden Glove in 2018 for his role in the HBO series.

Hillary Wolf – Megan McCallister

Megan was Kevin’s older sister, played by Hillary Wolf. As if being in one of the most famous films of all time wasn’t enough of an achievement, Hillary went on to become a successful athlete. Firstly, she won the world judo championships for juniors in 1994, before representing the USA in the Olympics for both 1996 and 2000.
