Confirmed: easyJet owner easyGroup is actually suing the band easy life over their name

‘For those you that bought gig tickets and ended up on a budget flight to Tenerife, I apologise’

So, easyGroup, the company that owns airline easyJet, is actually suing the band easy life over their name.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday, the band said: “For those of you that bought gig tickets and ended up on a budget flight to Tenerife, I apologise”.

When contacted about these allegations, easyGroup, the company that owns airline easyJet told The Tab: “With reference to the brand thief Mr Matravers and his fellow band members who have decided to use our brand, easyLife without permission.

“We have a long established record of legally stopping thieves from using our brands and I am confident we will stop Mr Matravers.”

easy life is an indie band from Leicester made up of Murray Matravers, Oliver Cassidy, Sam Hewitt, Lewis Berry and Jordan Birtles. They performed at this year’s Reading and Leeds.

In a post yesterday, easy life said: “Okay… never imagined having to do this but we’ve no choice but to address the situation we find ourselves in. As some of you have already discovered, we are being sued. easyJet are suing us for being called easy life. They’re forcing us to change our name or take up a costly legal battle which we could never afford.

“We’ve worked hard to establish our brand and I’m certain in no way have we ever affected their business. Although we find the whole situation hilarious, we are virtually powerless against such a massive corporation. I don’t really know what else to say, will keep you lot updated. For those of you that bought gig tickets and ended up on a budget flight to Tenerife, I apologise, for the rest of you, thank you so much for your support.”

easyGroup owns various companies beside easyJet all with the trademark “easy”. easyLife is a homeware solutions company that sells home and garden furniture.

They also have the trademark for names such as easyFood, easyGym, easyMobile and easyStorage.

The company has a history of suing over the use of the brand “easy”. Last year, it sued a Greek airport car park for the use of easyairpark at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport in Athens.

Also in 2021, easyGroup successfully sued cosmetic company Beauty Perfectionist Ltd over their use of easyCosmetic.
