Here’s everything we know about House Of Gucci, the new Lady Gaga film
‘Father, son and House Of Gucci’
Lady Gaga constantly declaring she’s Italian is an iconic and cherished recurring laugh on the internet, and her turn as Patrizia Reggiani is about to show everyone her Italian prowess in the most formidable way. Today we have the trailer for House Of Gucci finally in our clutches after months of teased (and leaked) pictures from the set. The film will be delivering the high camp and drama in spade loads if the trailer is anything to go by, and it seems like a huge contender to be dominating at the next awards season when the Oscars roll around in 2022. Here’s everything we know about House of Gucci so far!
It’s based on the real life murder of Maurizio Gucci
Head of the famous fashion house, Maurizio Gucci was gunned down by a hitman in 1995. In 1997, his ex wife Patrizia Reggiani was arrested for arranging his murder. The film is all about the events leading up to the killing, and details their chaotic marriage and divorce as well as the aftermath following the murder.
The cast is AMAZING
Lady Gaga is, of course, front and centre as Patrizia Reggiani – a formidable and power hungry woman that Gaga is clearly having so much fun sinking her teeth into, and its another great role for her to show off her acting chops after the global acclaim she gained for playing Ally Maine in A Star Is Born. Adam Driver stars as Maurizio Gucci, with his brothers in the House of Gucci being played by Jared Leto and Jeremy Irons.
Al Pacino is starring as Aldo Gucci, the patriarch and founder of the fashion house. Salma Hayek, who coincidentally is married to the current head of the real House of Gucci, is starring as Pina Auriemma – Patrizia’s lifelong confidante.
Who directed it and when is it out?
House of Gucci is directed by Ridley Scott, known famously for creating the Alien franchise and directing Prometheus and The Martian. Scott hasn’t only done sci-fi though, with his film Thelma and Louise being a stone-cold classic.
It’s set to be released in cinemas worldwide on November 24th 2021.
What have people’s reactions been like?
Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room, Lady Gaga’s Italian accent is… interesting to say the least! No matter what you think of it, there’s no denying the film looks like it’s going to be a romp for better or for worse. These are some of the best tweets reacting to the House of Gucci trailer:
