Everything we know about Scott Shuman, who defended John at the Love Is Blind reunion
He actually got engaged in the pods but it was cut
John Shannon had a few people in his corner at the Love Is Blind season 11 reunion, and one of the most vocal was fellow cast member Scott Shuman.
After John admitted to sending inappropriate texts to a woman he met on a boys’ night, Scott spoke up for him from the audience. “John’s a good man. That’s a good man right there,” he said. “I’m actually getting emotional because I care about that man right there. That man brought his Bible to the breakfast and prayed for every single person that was about to get engaged.”
He then turned his attention to Sarah, adding: “Nobody brings up the fact she goes out three times a week with her friends.” It’s not the first time Scott has had something to say about Sarah. So who is he?
Scott had an engagement that wasn’t shown
Every season there’s usually at least one engagement that doesn’t make it to screen, and this year it’s been revealed that Scott was part of one.
Brittany posted a picture of her engagement ring on her Instagram story, writing: “Me flying back from the pods. Wasn’t shown that much (thank u god) but yes I did in fact get engaged and did the reveal. Details to follow stay tuned people. PS: This was 2025 so a lot has changed everyone will receive an update soon.”
According to Reality Receipts, a source confirmed that Scott was the man Brittany got engaged to. Neither of them has shared what happened next, but the “a lot has changed” line suggests they may no longer be together.
He made some controversial comments in the pods

Scott was one of the more divisive cast members this season, particularly in his conversations with Sarah. He told her he wouldn’t want his wife to work in a bar, and said he was glad she’d been single for six years so she hadn’t been “ruined” by men.
His Netflix bio gives a pretty clear idea of what he’s looking for. Scott, who is Christian, said: “The biggest struggle dating in Boston is finding a conservative woman.” He said he hoped his future wife would be “non-confrontational, sweet, and humble,” and would value his leadership skills.
According to his bio, Scott is originally from South Georgia and moved to the Northeast during the pandemic for a relationship, which he called the most romantic thing he’s ever done. That relationship ended six years ago, and he says he’s struggled to meet the right person since.
He’s posted about his controversial political views

Scott has been open about his religious and political views on his public Instagram. In one post, he urged people to “pray to end abortion” and said he’d be protesting outside a Planned Parenthood in New Jersey, encouraging others to join him. He also follows Donald Trump on Instagram.
He played professional baseball for more than a decade
Scott’s Netflix profile describes him as a retired pro baseball player, and he had a long career. He was first drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006, but went to Auburn University instead. He was then picked by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 19th round of the 2009 draft.
He spent several seasons in the minor leagues, reaching Double-A with the Montgomery Biscuits and the Richmond Flying Squirrels, before moving into independent baseball. He played for teams including the Long Island Ducks and the Bridgeport Bluefish, and spent most of his later career with the Lancaster Barnstormers, where he played until 2022. In his Instagram bio, he says he could throw 100mph.
He now runs two baseball businesses

Since retiring, Scott has turned to coaching. He runs Shuman Performance, which he describes on Instagram as his pitching coaching business, and he’s a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He’s also the Director of Pitching at RPP Baseball.
On top of that, he owns Ascend Performance, an athletic training centre that calls itself “South Georgia & North Florida’s Premier Athletic Training Center”. It offers batting cages, a gym and individual training programmes. He mentioned in his Netflix bio that sports have “been a big part of my life since day one,” and that this turned into a passion for health and fitness.
