Meet John’s dad David Shannon, who vehemently defended him at the Love Is Blind reunion
He insisted 'he didn't cheat on her'
At the Love Is Blind season 11 reunion, John admitted to having an emotional affair during his marriage to Sarah, but John’s dad, David was defending him the entire time.
David stood up for his son, telling the room: “I’m surprised you guys aren’t standing up for another guy. Sometimes guys go out, they get drunk and do stupid things. This was a night when they went out, they went drunk and he did a stupid thing. But no he didn’t cheat, he’s so nice. He didn’t cheat on her.”
His comments come after John admitted on the reunion that he’d sent inappropriate texts to a woman he met on a boys’ night, which Sarah described as the “final thing that made me want to leave.” It’s not the first time David has been in the spotlight this season either, after a podcaster claimed he’d yelled at Sarah during the reunion that she “goes out every night”.
So who is David Shannon when he’s not defending his son on Netflix?
He’s part of a family business in Massachusetts

David works at Shannon Corporation, a company based in Sudbury, Massachusetts, which was founded by his older brother Bill. According to a 2004 profile in the MetroWest Daily News, the business was run entirely by the three brothers. Bill was the president, David was the vice president, and their youngest brother Tim was the senior account manager.
The brothers grew up in nearby Wayland as three of seven children. Bill is the eldest, Tim is the youngest, and David is in the middle. David joined the company in 1982, a few years after Bill started it.
He told the paper that working with his brothers ran smoothly because none of them bottled things up. “If we’re going to have a conflict, we get it out, get it over with and move on,” he said. “We’re very good at working together.”
The company works on airports, train stations and schools
Shannon Corporation is what’s known as a manufacturers’ representative. It works with architects to find specialist products for buildings, like ceiling systems, window shades and wall panels, and is paid a commission by the manufacturers whose products it sells.
The company has worked on a huge range of projects, including MBTA stations in Boston like World Trade Center and Courthouse, airports in Boston, Washington DC and Tel Aviv, AMC cinemas, and loads of schools and universities.
Back in 2004, David said that what the company was best at was finding solutions. “We hate to say no,” he told the MetroWest Daily News. “We’re not in the business of saying, ‘We can’t do that.’”
It’s grown a lot over the years
In 2004, the company had just three employees and annual sales of more than $10 million. By 2020, a history on the company’s website said annual sales had risen to more than $18 million, with five employees, including four Shannon family members in sales. Since 2000, the company has been based in its own office in Sudbury.
