Survivor star reveals she narrowly missed horrifying Brown University shooting by minutes
'I feel very lucky to have left my office when I did'
Survivor‘s Eva Erickson has revealed she narrowly missed the horrifying Brown University shooting by just 15 minutes, and she’s said it’s because she was unproductive that day. Two people have died and nine were injured in a shooting on the campus on Saturday December 13.
She was on a part of the campus that was locked down during the attack, having left one area of the campus simply because she couldn’t seem to get any work done. Eva, who appeared on Survivor 48, said she is “so, so lucky she was unproductive at work today.”
The former competitor said she “was not getting anything done’ and headed for a separate part of campus. “I randomly decided I would go to the gym – I never go to the gym in the afternoon. I was leaving the building within five minutes of the shooter coming in,” she said.

Eva said that being on the campus the day after the deadly incident felt “so eerie” and added that she had to help her hockey teammates get gear out of the rink. She added: “Everybody is leaving. Everyone is trying to get the hell away from Brown to get home to their families.”
“To get there, I had to drive past the building… where the shooting took place, where I work,” she said. “And the door I’d exited mere minutes before the shooter would have entered was covered up, boarded off, crime scene tape all around the building, a lot of police.”
She marked herself safe on a post on Saturday and told her followers: “I am safe!! Yes, my office at Brown is in the building of the shooting but I was very lucky I left my lab 15 minutes prior to the active shooter alert to go to the gym.”
