We need to talk about the micro-aggression that Genesis is facing on Owning Manhattan
People are not happy about how the newbie is being treated
There’s lots of talk that Genesis is facing micro-aggression on Owning Manhattan, and it’s a topic we need to discuss. Even Ryan Serhant, the boss, has come out to say he’d have handled the situation differently between Genesis and Jess now he’s seen the final cut.
As a new real estate agent at SERHANT, it’s been tough for Genesis. She’s still sold more houses than Jade Shenker, at a whopping 13 properties on her records, having first got into property to help other immigrants navigate the city’s intricate home-buying processes
She is part of the Nile Lundgren team at Serhant. Her co-star, Jessica Taylor, has been slammed for her behaviour towards Genesis, when she accused her of breaking a company code by emailing a company client, but Genesis denied any wrongdoing in the situation.
The microagression on owning manhattan with @genesiscsuero is really annoying me and idk how nobody is seeing it

After Genesis claimed she’d completed a $3 million deal with her client Mercedes at dinner, Jess and Jordan started doubting whether her claim was true, with the pair making fun of her after her announcement. So it was all just really awkward and not nice to watch, tbh.
Genesis later admitted to Nile that she whilst she had sold an apartment it wasn’t for $3 million, and when she came clean to Ryan later she explained it was because she felt like she had something to prove to Jess and Jordan, something Ryan empathised with.
It all took an uncomfortable turn as Eric and Jess stood over her, which caused Nile to step in. It’s been the most controversial drama of the season, with Nile telling them, “You don’t ever come up to a woman in a business scenario, stand over her and say, ‘We need to talk.'”

As a result, Jessica and Eric have been accused of micro-aggression towards Genesis. One person wrote: “It’s bad. Jess T literally couldn’t take her. Tried about 3 different ways in one scene to undermine her. Genesis is doing better than me trying to be professional.”
Another person wrote their opinion on X: “Ryan was hella microagressive with how he handled the Nile-Genesis-Jess-Eric situation bc why did he make Nile apologise to the antagonisers when they were clearly in the WRONG #owningmanhattan.”
Ryan said: “So actual context of these scenes and how they went down has taken me a minute to process and I think there’s definitely some things both in Miami and with Nile and that whole scene that I would have handled differently.”
Nile also spoke on the situation told Behind The Velvet Rope: “I’m proud that I protected a woman on my team who was falsely accused of something. I felt a moral obligation to Genesis. I did what I had to do to protect her and I would do it again.”
