Polly reveals she was in a secret relationship the entire time Selling The OC was being filmed
She didn't even tell producers about him
Whilst Polly and Luke decided not to stay together after Selling The OC, it turns out they never could have been together as she was actually in a secret relationship the entire time.
Polly appeared on Alex Hall’s Hall’s podcast, Pretty Dirty, to reveal all, explaining that because her relationship was so new and she didn’t want to ruin it she kept it a secret from everyone, even the producers.

Alex explained: “Polly meets Luke on the show and they have so much in common, but she was also seriously dating someone else at the time but she had to follow through with the Luke thing.”
Polly then continued to unravel the situation, saying: “So, filming for season four and I’ve already started dating my guy.
“However, production introduced me to Luke and I’m like, ‘F*ck I don’t want to tell production that I’ve met someone else because it’s so new in the relationship and I knew it was going to something.
“And for me it’s been a really long time since I’ve felt actual feelings for someone and I was excited about it and could see it being for the rest of my life. So for me, there are some things that are too precious to dump on a global TV show.”
She continued: “But yeah, it was awkward because production did a great job of matchmaking me with Luke, and that pool scene was the last scene we filmed together.
“And production said we needed to show that things had moved on and that he was potentially moving here. Well, by that point things had got exclusive [with her secret boyfriend].”
Polly revealed that when they asked her to kiss Luke she had to come clean about her secret relationship, and as a result they helped her film the kiss to make it look real but without the pair actually having to touch each other.

And we actually know the identity of her secret boyfriend, as he and Polly are still together after Selling The OC.
His name is Meyer Swanepoel, who was born and grew up in Cape Town, and was previously a professional rugby player before moving into the real estate market himself.
In 2018 he opened his own boutique brokerage in Cape Town, before moving to San Diego in 2021 following splitting up with his wife, Kiersten.
Meyer is currently working at Compass, a real estate company and it seems things between him and Polly are going well as she’s actually moving to live with her new boyfriend after Selling The OC.
