Wait, do the new Vanderpump Rules cast members actually work at SUR or are they actors?
Is the whole thing fake?
With the new season of Vanderpump Rules starting tonight, I can’t help but wonder whether the new cast members actually work at SUR, or if they’re secretly just actors. So, let’s find out together!
During the first early seasons of Vanderpump Rules, all of the cast were actual employees of SUR, with a stronger focus on their work.

However, as the show evolved and grew in popularity it soon became impossible for them to do their normal hours alongside filming for the show.
Lisa Vanderpump admitted that by the end of Vanderpump Rules the cast was “more reality stars than restaurant staff.”
And whilst during the original series of Vanderpump Rules, Lisa hired her staff for the show, this time she’s picked the new cast from her existing staff.

She told Us Weekly: “I knew we had another group of cohesive people that had worked here for years.
“So I thought, ‘Okay, let’s put them on camera, see what the network thinks,’ and they loved them, but the authenticity was key to me.
“I didn’t want to start again and try to get a group of people together and have them start working for me. That wouldn’t have worked.”
And whilst a lot of the cast members are aspiring actors, they have all been legitimate staff members at SUR prior to appearing on the new season, with many of them even appearing in the backgrounds of previous seasons.
