Jordan Ngatikaura got 10 times richer after he quit his job for Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
But he still keeps saying he was mega successful before...
Jordan Ngatikaura sat down with Nick Viall following The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season three. He opened up about how he and Jessi Draper are moving forward with their relationship.
The Mormon Wives star spoke about feeling emasculated prior to the cheating scandal with Marciano Brunette. Jordan delved into what it’s been like finding Hulu stardom, being the husband of a hair empire owner, and how he gave up his job to take care of their kids.
As it turns out, Jordan actually got 10 times richer after he quit his job for Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
Jordan used to work in solar
People really cottoned on to the moment Layla made a joke about Jordan renting the house for the evening from Jessi during Mormon Wives season three.
She certainly had folks laughing at home. But, as far as the reality of Jessi and Jordan’s parenting and working roles go, it’s actually been a major issue in their relationship.
Jordan explained to Nick: “One of the things the show doesn’t really touch on is, I was very successful before this. I used to work for my friend’s solar company out here in Southern California.”
He added: “I made really good money, but it required me to spend 15, 16 weeks a year here, which is not very much considering how good the money was…
Per Zip Recruiter, a solar manager’s salary in California is estimated at around $100,000 per year.
These days, the two clearly enjoy the lifestyle JZ Styles and Mormon Wives have earned them. Jessi’s net worth is estimated at $1.65 million, which is over 10 times more than what Jordan may have been earning in solar.
He struggled with Jessi having huge success

Not only did Jordan explain that he sacked off his solar work to be a hands-on parent. But he also said he struggled to be with a partner who was doing so well – and still is…
“Jessi began to have so much success even before the show that it didn’t matter how much money I was making, it didn’t make sense for me to be gone and to leave her while she’s building an empire when she needs help raising the kids. I think that there was some resentment, having to give up my career working with my friends while she could go build this empire.”
When Nick asked: “Why didn’t you feel like you were building this together?” Jordan explained: “She made it clear that it was not something we were building together, and I tried to actually do that…”
He added: “She didn’t want to build together, and it made me feel like a piece of sh**.”
“Did you guys make that decision as a couple for you to stop working?” asked Nick.
Jordan replied: “For sure. We did. And, as hard as that was, I think what I was looking for in that moment was appreciation.”
He also said he “never thought he’d become a reality TV personality” and that “the birth of DadTok came off the heels of the affair.”
Jordan continued: “I didn’t do much social media until the affair happened…”
“Because of DadTok, Jessi and I, I’ve actually been doing some pretty cool brand deals. As far as financially, it helps, but Jessi’s a killer business person,” he added.
When Jessi came onto the Viall Files episode, she commented how she “gave Jordan a pretty nice life.”
He responded: “I used to have my dream job with people I loved working with. I made really good money doing it.”
