Mormon Wives’ Layla doesn’t regret getting divorced at 24 for this heartwrenching reason
She got married at 19
Layla Taylor really came into her own during The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season three.
People were taking to X after seeing some of her scenes to literally ask who the new Layla is. Some even went as far as to say she was sticking her nose into other people’s business.
Whatever critics fire her way, Layla’s living her truth and she’s showing up on Mormon Wives as her authentic self – and we’re here for it. This November, she sat down with Reality Shrine to spill the hot tea on her new relationship.
She also delved into what it was like getting divorced in her early twenties, revealing the real reason she doesn’t regret it now…

All the Mormon Wives cast members seem to have been going through it in one way or another over the seasons.
Season three sees a spotlight shine on Jessi and Jordan’s marriage. But, it’s more than just those two who have had marital issues.
Layla Taylor’s divorce was finalised in 2023. She and Clayton Wessel were married for three years. At the time, their sons were just babies. They’re now three and four years old.
Speaking of what she hopes people can take away from seeing her journey on Mormon Wives, Layla said: “I think if you’re stuck in a scenario every day that you’re questioning your worth and you’re questioning just who you are as a mother or a wife, I think prioritise yourself and show your babies a healthy example of love.”
She continued: “I think that’s one thing that I really wanted to show my kids, is that if I were to have stayed in that marriage, they wouldn’t have been able to see a healthy example and a model of what love should look like.
“…It’s hard, and it’s scary to leave something, but I think you can do hard things, and overall, your kids will be happy with you that you were able to do the hard thing for them,” Layla added.

Layla shared how she’s armed and ready with questions ahead of the Mormon Wives reunion this December.
She told Reality Shrine: “I think we left off some questions with Taylor and Chase at that end date scene right there. I think there’s probably a lot of questions that the audience has, and I have a couple that I would love to ask.
“I mean, reunions, they get crazy. So, we’ll see if everyone gets their questions answered, but I think it’ll be a, I think it’ll be a good one.”
Speaking of relationships and dates… we obviously had to get the tea on Layla’s current boyfriend, Mason.
The Hulu star explained how she’s finally in a relationship where she can be fully herself.
“I feel like I used to be in relationships where I was always changing every part of myself because I wanted to be loved so badly, and I’ve done this even in friendships,” Layla said.
“I’d almost be a chameleon to who I was with and the people that I was around because I just wanted to be loved and accepted so badly. I was like, hey, if I take on this that they really love, then they’re going to love me, and they’re not going to leave me, and then I realised that doesn’t matter, you can change yourself all you want, and they still potentially could leave.”
She continued to sing Mason’s praises, adding: “…so I’m finally in a relationship where I feel like I can truly be myself, and if that doesn’t work out long term, then I can at least leave this relationship knowing that I was authentically Layla. Take it or leave it, you know? So I feel like I finally found somebody that I feel safe that I can fully be me, which is really nice.”
