What happened to Yukon Men? The Discovery Channel series was a favourite of many, so let’s get its fate explained. Is it finished?
When a show you love hasn’t reared its head for a while, you can’t help but feel a little curious.
A number of shows have been cancelled this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to problems with shooting and rising costs etc.
So, it’s no surprise that Yukon Men fans want to know what happened with the show.
The series premiered on the Discovery Channel back in 2012, centring on the lives of fishermen and trappers in the Alaskan village of Tanana.
Audiences have long enjoyed learning about survival with Stan and Joey Zuray, Charlie and “Bob” Wright, the Moore family and Jamie Roberts.
Now, let’s consider where the show is today…
What happened to Yukon Men?
- Yukon Men wasn’t renewed for an eighth season.
Distractify notes that perhaps the show’s ratings didn’t warrant renewal. The source also draws attention to the show’s shifting nature over the years, addressing the introduction of dramatic reenactments, with the cast dramatising moments which had actually happened.

The Stan Project
The Stan Project will focus on the Yukon Men alum and the aims of the documentary project have been outlined on the official website:
“The goal of this project is to show a different way of life through the eyes of a man who has overcome so much to be able to live the way he does. It’s about finding happiness and working towards something meaningful. It’s about exploring what gives you purpose and finding the courage to chase it yourself.”
Continued: “We rarely take the time to appreciate what we have and hopefully this project will inspire you to live in a more thoughtful way. We hope to encourage others to find the strength and perseverance within themselves to live their own best life.”
Filming began in the summer of 2019.
