This influencer just live streamed her childbirth, and not for the reason you’d expect

It’s certainly a first

In what’s believed to be a first for Twitch, popular Influencer Fandy – real name Cady Herschel – gave birth live on stream in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The 30-year-old Texas-based gamer, who has more than 364,000 followers on the platform, welcomed her daughter Luna Rose at 2:45am on October 8th, weighing 8lbs 1oz.

The broadcast, which peaked at nearly 30,000 viewers, showed Fandy surrounded by close friends and family in a birthing pool as she went into labour. While most people assumed she chose to live stream the birth for money, Fandy insisted that this was not the reason, and that they did not receive any more money than usual for the live stream.

Shutting down the accusations that it was a monetized publicity stunt, she said: “I did not do it for the money. Neither me nor Bryan asked for subs, made goals, or even acknowledged bits… Ads were lowered to minimal levels like they always are. This wasn’t about building an audience – it was about sharing something personal.”

A doctor was on standby throughout the stream, and after nearly eight hours, Luna was safely delivered. People flooded the chat with emotional and supportive messages as the historic moment unfolded live.

Earlier in the night, Fandy posted on X to tell her followers her water had broken, and that she planned to “go live” as events progressed. What followed was one of Twitch’s most emotional streams to date. Even Twitch’s CEO dropped into the chat to wish her luck, commenting: “Fandy, best of luck and congratulations. Wishing you the best in this journey.”

The internet quickly exploded with reactions, with some calling the livestream “inspirational” and “brave,” while others questioned whether broadcasting such a personal moment was appropriate.

Addressing the controversy, Fandy later explained her decision on Instagram.

“I live streamed my birth to my community I had been streaming to for 10 years. I’m very grateful for the amount of people who tuned in to share the special moment with us, and incredibly grateful to my amazing friends who dropped everything that day to help support me,” she said.

In a final twist, Fandy revealed she’s stepping away from adult content entirely: “I’ve deactivated my OnlyFans as of today. I started my content creation journey 10 years ago as just a streamer, and that’s what I’m going to be from now on. My next arc starts now.”

The clip has since gone viral across social media, and Fandy definitely has a place in Twitch history as the first person to ever livestream giving birth on the platform.
