Oktoberfest, wings, and LEGO: Here is what’s on in Sheffield this October
You won’t be bored this month
Freshers may be over, but Sheffield isn’t slowing down. October is packed with events that prove there’s more to the Steel City than West Street on a Friday night. From theatre magic to electric raves and food festivals that’ll test your appetite, here’s what you should be pencilling into your calendar this month.
Theatre magic
If you want a break from clubbing, a night at the theatre might just be what you’re looking for. Sheffield Theatres are serving up two big shows to catch this month that would be the perfect sober activity.
Step through the wardrobe and into Narnia as C.S. Lewis’s classic is brought to life. Showing at the Lyceum Theatre from 14th to 18th, you can expect stunning sets and the nostalgia of one of childhood’s favourite stories told on stage.
More of a comedy fan? Theatre Royal Bath Productions’ new stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, Emma, might be the one for you. Adapted by Ryan Craig, the witty and charming comedy of manners is here in Sheffield from 7th to 11th at the Lyceum, celebrating 250 years of Austen.
Tickets are on sale for both shows and can be purchased from the website.
Festivals
As we all know, festival season is never really over in Sheffield, and this month, the city is reminding us that there truly is something for everyone: Music, food and even LEGO?
Corporation is going all out this October with Novacaine Festival on the 4th, a full day of alternative, metal and punk. Expect back-to-back sets from rising names and established acts, starting in the afternoon and running late into the night. It’s a must for anyone who loves heavy music.
