Um, a Big Brother housemate is a huge influencer and the on/off girlfriend of a TikTok menace

Can we PLEASE just cast people who don’t have 200,000 followers!?

Big Brother on ITV was doing a great job of getting the UK version back to basics, but the 2025 season has wound everyone up by casting two controversial influencers with a big platform. One is Tory mouthpiece Emily Hewertson who is always doing the GB News circuit – and the other is blonde, quirky Christian who talks to dead people: Elsa Rae. When Elsa walked into Big Brother UK 2025 last night I actually thought she seemed absolutely iconic – but then it surfaced that she’s not only a massive influencer with a huge platform, she also is well known for having a deeply problematic on / off boyfriend in the form of a TikTok menace who is frequently banned from the platform.

Here’s what you need to know about Elsa Rae on Big Brother UK 2025 and why she’s already got a controversial platform.

She’s a huge content creator with over 200K on TikTok and 126K on Instagram

Elsa Rae has a huge following on TikTok and Instagram after finding a big platform through her on / off relationship with controversial creator Ed Matthews. Ed Matthews has been notorious online for years, and used to have a platform with around 550,000 followers before TikTok banned him and suspended him. Clips of him still circulate online.

They are currently seemingly broken up, with Ed saying in July “I just broke up with my girl as well after four years. If you don’t think you’re gonna marry that girl, there’s no point wasting years.”

Elsa posts regularly and was posting just three days before Big Brother

Apart from content with her ex Ed, Elsa is known for saying she can talk to dead people and that she’s a Christian. She does day in the life vlogs and lip syncs to trending sounds – the usual.

She said on how she got onto Big Brother in an interview with ITV: “I saw an advertisement to apply on TikTok, and I thought, ‘okay, I’m just going to apply. Like, I’m just going to do it’. I feel like you’re only 21 once. And why not!”

So she did apply, and wasn’t scouted. But I just wish ITV would cast normal people with an under 10K following rather than these massive influencers known for controversies!
