Big Brother dragged for casting a Tory influencer with 160K followers on the civilian series

You’ve definitely seen her dreadful tweets before

In the ITV era of Big Brother, where the channel has helmed its back to basics return for the past three years, the show has really generally done a great job at casting nobodies. I don’t mean nobodies in a derogatory way – I mean it in the best way possible. Big Brother celebrating the everyday person and just truly shoving a load of mixed ages and vibes in a house and seeing what happens. The hype was real for the third ITV season with Big Brother UK returning for 2025 last night – but there was one housemate going in that really ruffled feathers. Tory Emily to most seems like the annual Tory housemate sent in to create debate – something I’m all for, in the purposes of good TV – but Big Brother UK 2025 has messed up because she already has a huge platform and following. So much so, I think she’s well known enough for Celebrity Big Brother considering the usual calibre of who they include.

Here’s where you’ve seen Emily from Big Brother UK 2025 before – because you definitely have clocked some of her eyebrow raising posts before.

She’s a right wing political influencer

Emily Hewertson has been a mainstay on Twitter for years and has a huge following of 160,000+ people. Her Twitter is very controversial and she’s been known as a young Tory – she’s only 22. Since getting cast on Big Brother, like all the rest of the housemates her social media is now private.

She’s a part of the Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point UK

The late Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point US and Emily Hewertson has been involved with the UK division.

She’s also been on GB News on several occasions.

She’s a huge fan of Nigel Farage

Emily from Big Brother UK 2025 has been notorious for her association with Nigel Farage, who Hewertson has always held in high regard. She was falsely accused of being the girl who threw a milkshake over him online and had to spend a considerable amount of time talking about how it wasn’t her that did it.

Her appearance on Big Brother is getting dragged not just because the majority of watchers of the show cannot stand her views -but because she already has a massive platform and is pretty well known. Especially amongst young people. We need to keep the civilian series of Big Brother just real people.
