Kelly Clarkson cancels Las Vegas residency with statement on ex-husband’s secret battle
She needs to be ‘fully present’ for her kids
Kelly Clarkson has cancelled dates of her Las Vegas residency after revealing that her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, had been quietly battling a health issue.
Following in the footsteps of countless iconic performers like Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson kicked off her Las Vegas residency on July 11. Named Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions, she performs iconic tracks such as Since U Been Gone, Miss Independent, and Stronger alongside a single Kellyoke cover. Though it differs from show to show, she has performed I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton, Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, Beggin by Måneskin, and Creep by Radiohead.
The show was set to run until November 15, bringing the total number to 18 performances, but Kelly Clarkson has now cancelled the some of the dates.

In an Instagram post in the early hours of Thursday morning, Kelly Clarkson cancelled her remaining August Las Vegas shows while revealing that her kids need her.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” she wrote in a simple text post.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”

Kelly Clarkson was married to talent manager Brandon Blackstock from 2013 to 2022, bringing two kids into the world, River Rose and Remington Alexander. It’s not clear what Brandon has been suffering with, and it’s not yet known whether she’ll continue with the final leg of the residency later this year.
People in the comments argued that “family always comes first”, as one person wrote: “Those kids need you more than we do! Go be the best momma! Best wishes to all involved.”
“Family first. Praying for recovery and peace. We will miss the show, but hopefully can still make it for the reschedule!” another said.
Someone else added: “Being a mom comes first; everything else can wait. Love and prayers to all of you.”
