MAFS Australia bride claims she was ‘held against her will’ and forced to stay on the show
She even threatened to call the police
Last night’s MAFS Australia Commitment Ceremony was the end of the road for Morena and Tony, and the bride has since claimed that she was “held against her will” by the producers.
The 57-year-old claims she was forced to stay in the experiment for “four weeks of torture” even though she wanted to leave, adding that she was trapped by a clause in the contract that says cast members can be liable for $50,000 in damages if they quit.
Speaking on the MAFS Funny podcast, Morena said: “I was held against my will.” She then explained that she hit breaking point after the final Commitment Ceremony, which she wasn’t actually going to attend.
“The last commitment ceremony, I didn’t go. I was in my room. They [the producers] were on the phone. Oh my God, I had all this attention that I haven’t had for the whole show. And they end up convincing me,” she said.
“But before they convinced me, I said to them something that they didn’t like. I said to them, I’m going to call OOO. You’re holding me against my will. This stops. This stops today. So viewers, you’ve got to understand that this is four weeks, four weeks, four weeks of torture.”
“So when I said to them, I’m going to call the police, they didn’t like it. That’s when they said, okay, she’s really going to do it. I should have just done it.”
@jshfx Morena did not hold back when it came to calling out producers during filming for their various tactics, and she will not be silenced now. Listen to our full chat on The MAFS Funny Podcast now. #mafs #mafsau #mafsaustralia
Later in the podcast, the bride claimed she was constantly controlled by security in the apartment building who stopped the cast members from leaving.

“I went back to pack my bags, and the next day, the producers, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves, but that’s okay. You got to live with what you’ve done. They accompany me to the lift, because there’s always a guard at the lift, because, you know, you can’t, God forbid, if you want to go out to go and get a coffee.”
“That’s how they control you guys. They literally have guards making sure you don’t leave. You have to check in and out. They follow you.”
In another interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, Morena said she fought to be able to write “I want to turn pain into wisdom” on her card at the third Commitment Ceremony after she was forced to stay in the experiment.
“My producer said, ‘No you just write stay or leave’ and I said, ‘Well actually, how about I just don’t go to the commitment ceremony?'” she recalled.
“I believe you need to stand up for what you believe is right. I was in so much pain. You forced me to stay here against my will, so I wrote, ‘I want to turn my pain into wisdom’.”
