Her accent is hard to place, so where in the UK is MAFS Australia’s Beth from?

Beth Kelly was the newest bride to enter the MAFS Australia experiment, where she married Teejay Halkias, but long before she was down under Beth was actually living in the UK.

MAFS producers earlier revealed how it was “important” to cast British people in the Australia show because “The show’s success overseas has shown us that viewers love seeing a mix of backgrounds and cultures.” Naturally, they then cast Billy Belcher for his “unique British charm and authenticity.”

But apparently, one Brit wasn’t enough, because Beth also hails from the UK. She was bubbly and full of energy in her Married at First Sight debut, but there was no mistaking that thick British accent, so here’s what we know about her life before Australia.

Where in the UK is MAFS’ Beth from?

Beth currently resides in Brisbane, Queensland, with her family, including her sister Charlotte, after they moved to Australia 16 years ago when she was just 12 years old. Now 28, she still lives with her parents, joking in her introduction video, “It’s pretty sad innit? I’m 28, get out the f**ing house.”

We know that she was born in Lancashire in the Northwest of England – hence the thick northern accent – but the exact location of her birth has not been revealed. Lancashire residents on Facebook seem to believe that her accent is typical of people living in Bolton or Oldham.

Unfortunately, and unlike Billy’s, Beth’s Instagram does not give much away when it comes to her backstory. Her oldest post was in 2023, and it doesn’t look like she’s been back to the UK recently. Most of her posts are either in Queensland or other Australian locations.

In Australia, Beth now works as an operations manager at a high-end nail salon, with daily tasks including overseeing daily operations, managing staff, managing inventory, and being responsible for bringing in new customers. The job clearly affords her a lavish lifestyle because Beth is always dressed to the nines in swanky five-star hotels and sunny beach resorts.

Regardless, it seems like we’re in for a treat when it comes to Beth, as sources have claimed that production told the intruders to really shake things up.

“They were told from the get-go that they need to create tension and keep the drama flowing,” they told the MailOnline.

Similarly, one of Beth’s friends told the publication that she is completely authentic as well as being drop-dead gorgeous.

“She’s one of those people who lights up the room the moment she walks in,” one of Beth’s told the publication. “Beth’s not just beautiful—she’s got this incredible energy and personality that’s going to bring a lot of fun and drama to the show. She’s really funny and just so real. I think people are going to love her.”
