Adrian faced domestic abuse charges before MAFS Australia: Here’s it all explained

After being cast on MAFS Australia 2025, it became clear that groom Adrian Araouzou had previously faced domestic abuse charges. Whilst he was found not guilty on all charges and it was never raised again, questions were asked about why he was cast on the show.

In the UK episodes, things are heating up in the experiment. One of the couples where cracks have began to show are Adrian and his bride, Awhina. The so-called “footsie scandal” with Sierah has caused friction between them.

Before the show, Adrian faced domestic abuse charges

According to MailOnline, shortly after Adrian was cast for the show, production received an email from a concerned member of the public, who raised Adrian’s previous domestic violence charges with producers.

Adrian faced three charges. These were: Assault occasioning actual bodily harm, domestic violence common assault, and resisting police. He was found not guilty on all counts. Nothing has been suggested against this decision since. All three charges were dismissed in a court in November 2021.

According to court documents, the investigation began when reports of screaming came from the property Adrian shared with his former partner. Police were then called.

Adrian’s partner later signed a police statement that said injuries sustained during the incident were not the result of an assault, but instead came from a seizure.

“Any suggestion of physical assault is categorically denied,” Adrian said through lawyers at the time. “I had my day in court, I was found not guilty and the application for an AVO was dismissed. Any allegation otherwise is completely baseless and highly defamatory.”

His partner is reported to have added: “I am horrified Adrian has been accused of being a perpetrator of domestic violence, as this is the furthest thing from the truth. I want the matter dropped, so that Adrian and I can move on.”
