The best ways to spend time over the Easter holidays according to a Warwick student

Eating lots of chocolate should definitely be on the list

Now term two is over and we finally get some time off from 9am seminars and long, boring lectures you may find yourself with a bit more time on your hands. There are so many things you can do, so I’ve put together a short list of inspo, or you know you could maybe revise for your exams…

Get outside

I know that everyone says it, but it really is so important. Getting outside in the fresh air and taking a breath can work wonders for not only your mental health but your physical health too. Whether that looks like getting out on a quick walk, running, cycling or maybe just walking somewhere instead of driving, it’s a great idea to get outside and reconnect with nature after a long term of seeing nothing more green than the green room.

Meet up with friends

It’s always nice to come home over Easter and see some friends, whether from uni, your home town, or elsewhere, but having a coffee or drinks and a catch up can always help break up the long easter break. It’s important however, to also take time for yourself to properly rest and recharge ready for term three.

Learn a new hobby

I always find at uni it’s harder to keep going with my usual hobbies as much so during the holidays there is more time and opportunity to take them back up again. The break is also a great time to try your hand at something new, with the resurgence this spring yet again of “grandma hobbies” maybe give crochet a go, or embroidery?

Do some uni work

It had to have an honourable mention: If you’re so bored you have endless amounts of time stretching before you, maybe write the essay that’s due the first week back or revise for those summer term exams. It may not be the most fun way to spend your time but it has got to be done. Using the break to catch up on missed work or get ahead for the next term can be a great use of time and make for a stress free last term.

Bake or cook

Making something nice to eat is another great use of time. Whether you enjoy baking or cooking, trying some spring or Easter themed recipes is a great way to pass the break and impress your flatmates when you return. It’s finally mini egg season and in my opinion they go with everything, so numerous culinary doors have been opened for you there.
