People spotted secret clue to Jamie’s fate in the first scene of Adolescence but it’s so stupid

Some of us just need to touch some grass

People think they’ve spotted the secret meaning in the very first scene of Adolescence that points to Jamie’s fate at the end of the show.

Thanks to shows such as Severence, Squid Game, FROM, and Breaking Bad we are used to over analysing media for some of the most outlandish theories you’ve ever seen. I’m more than guilty of it too – hence why I thought Squid Game’s Front Man and Gi-Hun were in love – but not every show is made to be picked apart and toiled over.

Adolescence is one such show, and while there are some hidden meanings in the Netflix project, most of it should be taken at face value and this ridiculous theory proves that.

Did you spot the ‘clue’ in the first scene of Adolescence?

Ado

Netflix’s Adolescence opens up with the police storming the house of 13-year-old Jamie and his family following the murder of schoolgirl Katie. It’s an incredibly tense moment that serves to shock us and it really didn’t calm down from there.

During the scene, people on TikTok noticed a scrap of paper missing from Jamie’s planets and stars wallpaper. Coincidentally, it resembled a knife and Jamie’s hand placement looked like he was holding it. Obviously, at this point, we don’t know what Jamie did but people have said it’s a major hint to his fate at the end of the season – something people with zero media literacy are STILL debating online. He did it, that’s the point.

“This cannot have been an accident. The level of detail in this show made it a masterpiece,” one person said.

Another wrote: “Every detail is immaculate in this programme.”

“I kept looking at the tear on the wall. It bothered me, but I didn’t put that together! Brilliant!!!” someone else said.

Someone even went as far as to say that in the final shot, which saw Stephen Graham’s character lying in his son’s bed, it looked like the wallpaper knife was in his back.

“And the very last scene when the dad is on his bed is like the knife in his back,” they pointed out.

Look, could this very much be an intentional hint and Jamie’s guilt in Netflix’s Adolescence? 1000 per cent! However, I feel like we’re focusing on the wrong thing here, guys.

By focusing on the hidden easter eggs on the show we are ignoring the very real issues being addressed in the show. Why would creator Jack Thorne mask messages when the ENTIRE point is to convey something going on around us right now? The message could get lost in translation.

This is a powerful comment on a major issue in modern society, not a Marvel movie.
