Eliot opens up about whether he regrets walking out on his MAFS Australia wife Lauren

Eliot Donovan made the very bold decision to walk away from his MAFS Australia wife Lauren Hall, and he’s opened up about whether he regrets his decision.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the groom said: “Absolutely no regrets. I said I would do it and I did it.”

“I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror if I’m there saying, ‘Look, if she’s not right for me, if these things don’t line up, then I’m gonna leave’ and then I stick around and go against my word. That’s not the sort of person I am.”

He is getting criticised online for his long list of “non-negotiables” that Lauren didn’t meet, a series of demands that he’s not willing to compromise on in a partner. However, Eliot said he was wrongly portrayed as a villain on-screen.

He claimed it’s really “frustrating” that the editors can “cherry-pick” parts of his personality and not show other parts, making him out to be a bad person.

“It can make it completely different if you’re doing it in a way that sounds harsh and aggressive, obviously it’s going to come out a lot worse,” the 35-year-old said.

“‘If you’re saying it in defense of something or in a way where you are saying, look, I don’t think it’s fair or this or that, and you add context to it, then I think it communicates completely differently.”

Eliot’s best man agreed that his dry humour got taken way out of context on the show and he was wrongly made out to look like a bad person.

In another interview, the groom revealed that he left because he “didn’t find love,” and that’s literally all there is to it.

“I didn’t want to go through the motions and fight with this person for three months just to milk the opportunity,” he said.

So, maybe he’s really not the villain he’s being made out to be. The pair are set to return later in the series in a very dramatic way, so we’ll have to wait and see.
