Love Is Blind’s Joey reveals his true feelings towards Monica’s sister after her bitter rant

‘I understand there can be broken families’

Joey Leveille and Monica Danus quickly became the frontrunners in Love Is Blind season eight, but after a fun-filled trip to Monica’s family’s house, her sister torpedoed the vibe by bringing up the dreaded D word – Divorce!

Every single Love Is Blind couple is currently embroiled in drama that could soon sink their relationships. Taylor and Daniel have that Instagram scandal, Sara and Ben are dealing with his TikTok accusations, and Virginia and Devin have already broached the prenup conversation – and that’s to say nothing of the s**t show that is Dave and Lauren.

Joey and Monica were in the most stable relationship until Monica’s sister Nicolle chimed in and ruined the vibe. During a family visit in episode eight, admittedly after Joey insinuated Nicolle’s boyfriend was biding his time to get to Monica, Nicolle pulled her sister aside for a chat around the fit pit. It was very Love Island-coded and just as dramatic.

She wasn’t keen on Joey at all, and after sharing red flags ranging from he’s not Monica’s type to him saying all the right things, Nicolle shared that she should get married first because she’s older. It was giving bitter, and now Joey has spoken out.

Love Is Blind’s Joey said he was surprised by Monica’s sister

The next three Love Is Blind episodes are set for release on Friday so we don’t have long to wait for an update on Joey and Monica’s relationship. I’m hoping it stands the test of time, but his recent interview on the Love in Reality podcast might suggest otherwise.

“Yeah, that was a little bit tough for me. For me, Monica and I connected super well in the pods about our sisters because I am very very close with my sisters and I consider them my best friends and we talk almost every single day. Monica kinda described her situation the same when she’s like ‘My sister is my best friend’ and so we really bonded on that,” he said.

“I understand that there can be broken families, I myself come from a broken family, and there can be complications in the family so I understood that aspect. But when I  saw their relationship it was so much different in comparison to what I thought it would be in the pods. ”

During the episode, it was just Monica and her sister Nicolle outside so we didn’t get to see Joey’s reaction to the word divorce being used or the accusation that he knows what to say. Apparently, Nicolle is a great judge of character.

“So I was really trying to analyse the situation,” Joey said, explaining that he was trying to “work out the dynamic” during the moment. “Doing that, and seeing there was a lack of approval there was tough. For me, family is my number one value so being accepted by the family is extremely important to me especially when it’s [Monica’s] best friend. It was tough, it was tough.”

Here’s to hoping that Nicolle isn’t in the other episodes because I NEED Joey and Monica to stay together.
