Since Love Is Blind makes it sound like a village, how big actually is Minneapolis?

If I hear ‘You know Minneapolis’ one more time I’m going to scream

Love Is Blind season eight is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but we have yet to learn major facts besides it being an incredibly small city where apparently all the men look the same?

This season all we’ve heard is how close-knit the Minneapolis community is, so much so that in my mind Minnesotan city is only a few blocks with a population of 25 – all of which took part in season eight of Love Is Blind. Everyone seems to know each other, or know of each other, and the dating pool is apparently so small that there have been NUMEROUS cases of “Why do I recognise you from somewhere?”

It was during the most recent episodes that we were given a better look at the city, and naturally, it landed me in a bit of a Minneapolis rabbit hole. Here’s what I discovered.

Reddit speaks about the lore of the city like like a Tolkien novel

Season eight of Love Is Blind is being widely dubbed the blandest season, with some arguing it’s because the Netflix producers took us to the most boring city in America.

“People saying the new Love Is Blind season based in Minneapolis is boring like yeah now imagine having to live among these people,” someone wrote on Twitter.

In contrast, other Minneapolis residents have said they aren’t boring but locals just don’t have that craving for fame like other cities.

“People in Minnesota DON’T CARE TO BE FAMOUS. Most people don’t want to be an influencer and live their normal lives. This is not LA,” someone said on Reddit. “I’ve lived here my whole life and go out all the time in Minneapolis and meet/hang out with the coolest most genuine fun people ever! Not to mention Minneapolis is home to the most gorgeous women… there’s seriously something in the water here.”

Others have even claimed that the city has its own species of Dude bro, as one person explained: “Let me be clear I’m not defending Dave, I think Dave is the stereotypical ‘Minneapolis Bro’ who is very shallow lacks depth, and thinks he’s hot stuff cause he played baseball at the U and lives near the lake.

“Minneapolis is very cliquey and small. It’s not unusual to date a girl/hook up unknowingly with a person that someone a friend of yours or acquaintance has hooked up with prior. The dating pool is very small in the cities. Hook-up culture is very prevalent but it’s moreso hush, hush. As it’s easy to ruin your rep if you’re perceived loose(this goes for both men and women).”

How big is Minneapolis where Love Is Blind is set?

Though I’m not doubting that Minneapolis is an insular community, the World Population Review’s statistics utterly shocked me. There I was thinking the city was tiny but it’s actually got a population of 423,250. On the grander scale, that places Minneapolis in the 46th position out of 350!!

Obviously, places like New York City ( 8,097,282), San Diego (1,388,996), and Indianapolis (876,665), have much larger populations, but Minneapolis is still beating notable cities such as Tampa (408,510), New Orleans (357,767), Orlando (325,044), and Cincinnati (311,595). It’s not looking quite so small anymore.

Admittedly, Minneapolis is physically smaller than most US cities, beating the likes of Boston, San Francisco, and Miami but falling short against large-scale cities such as Houston, Phoenix, and Los Angeles.

There are also over 10 Starbucks locations so is Minneapolis really as tiny as they make it out to be?
