Three people cleared of all charges regarding Liam Payne manslaughter case

‘I’m glad to be finally able to travel to the UK and say goodbye to my friend’

Three people who were under investigation regarding the death of One Direction band member Liam Payne have been cleared of all charges. Previously, five people had been charged in relation to the death of Liam Payne in October last year – including four staff members at the Casa Hur Hotel where he died and Payne’s friend Roger Nores.

The three people cleared of charges in relation to Liam Payne are two hotel staff members who were under investigation for a suspected role in supplying cocaine for the singer, with the receptionist allegedly having asked staff to ‘drag’ Payne to his hotel room – where he later fell from his balcony when alone.

According to Rolling Stone, Nores and two staff members are cleared. Regarding Nores, a judge has ruled that he played no part in Payne “obtaining and consuming” alcohol in his final hours and there was nothing he could have done to have prevented the death from happening.

The ruling reads: “It is possible that, if he had stayed in his company at all times, [Payne] would not have obtained the drugs and alcohol in the quantities necessary for the state of intoxication he exhibited at the time of his death. But it cannot be ruled out that, even if he had taken those extreme precautions… that [Payne] would have managed to obtain the substances anyway, as is common among addicts, even when they are under the loving care of their family.”

The judge also said there wasn’t enough proof that receptionist Gilda Martin and manager Esteban Grassi engaged in any ‘thoughtless, reckless, or merely negligent behaviour’. However, two other employees remain behind bars as they face trial on supplying drugs to Liam Payne.

Roger Nores tol Rolling Stone after being cleared of the charges “Glad this is finally over. I’m happy I’m now going to be able to travel to the UK and say goodbye to my friend.”

Nores just last month launched a lawsuit against Liam’s dad Geoff, accusing him of ‘false, contained material omissions, and many parts were not based on personal knowledge’. Geoff strongly denies any defamation.
