Liam Payne’s girlfriend reveals the devastating final text she sent him before he died

It’s so normal which is what makes it so sad

Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has opened up about losing the singer in her first-ever interview since he died.

Speaking to The Sun, she delved into many emotional topics including how she found out about his passing and why she wasn’t in Argentina with him.

However, the saddest thing she revealed was the final  12-word text she sent him before he died on October 16, 2024.

It was such a normal message, which is what makes it so devastating. She wrote: “I can’t wait for you to get home and see the house.”

The US influencer had decorated their Florida house for Halloween and was excited for Liam to see the setup, but he never did.

A few days later, the man she hired to put up the lights texted and asked if her boyfriend “enjoyed the Halloween surprise,” unaware he had died.

Kate was in Argentina with the One Direction bandmate but flew home to Florida two days before his death to look after their rescue dog Nala.

“I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur,” she said.

She thought they were only going to Argentina “for about a week” but ended up being there for longer, which is why she went home for the dog.

The 31-year-old was in Argentina on holiday to see Niall Horan on tour when he fell from the balcony of his Buenos Aires hotel room.

Kate claimed “Liam was in such a good headspace” and said she “wouldn’t even know” what caused his relapse.

Five people have been charged in connection with the singer’s death, the BBC reported in December 2024.

The hotel’s manager, Gilda Martin, receptionist, Esteban Grassi, and Liam’s friend Roger Nores have all been charged with manslaughter.

Ezequiel Pereyra, who worked at the hotel, and waiter Braian Paiz have both been charged with supplying drugs.

Kate devastatingly described the whole thing as a “tragic accident” and said she “never thought this would have happened”.
