A detailed breakdown of how to actually survive all of the Squid Game challenges and win

It’s surprisingly easy to take home 45.6 billion won

If you’ve spent the last three years staying up to date with Squid Game, I can almost guarantee at one point you watched the lethal games and thought, I could probably do that. How much are you willing to bet? After reading this article, you might feel a lot more confident that you could take home the whopping prize money, which breaks down how to survive and win each Squid Game challenge.

Red Light, Green Light

Surviving Red Light, Green Light should be pretty straightforward, especially if you have a crazed Gi-hun screaming at you to freeze at every stop. The way you survive this is just how they explain in the games: Don’t freak out, get behind someone taller than you and DON’T. MOVE.

Sugar honeycombs

via Netflix

Sugar Honeycombs was in my opinion one of the hardest games to survive. If you get an unfortunate shape, it’s obviously a lot more difficult to win, but there are some ways around it. The most important thing is to apply heat, so you just need to lick your way to freedom. Lovely.

Tug of war

Thanks to Oh Il-nam, our traitorous Player 001 from the first season, surviving the tug of war game should be a piece of cake. If you don’t remember, Player 001 explained how you needed to stand firm for the first ten seconds, and then work as a team to pull the rope under your arm, using your whole body weight. If you start slacking, let go to let the other team fall forward and then suddenly pull through again. It obviously helps if you have a few bulkier players on your team for that added muscle mass too.

Marbles

via Netflix

Marbles was in my opinion the hardest game to watch. I’ve never witnessed such heartbreak and betrayal in my entire life, even when Oh Il-nam revealed he was the creator of the games. The way to win this is to basically be heartless and deceive your opponent. Alternatively, you can pick a marble game that you’re ace at and win fair and square.

On the other hand, you and your partner could both make it out alive (unlike Ali and Sang-woo). A user on Reddit came up with a simple solution to allow for a perfect tie:

Your only problem now is the guards, and if they decide to let you both take the win.

Glass hopscotch

The glass hopscotch game is definitely up there with the most difficult games because it’s all down to chance. Unless you’re a glass connoisseur like that one player was in season one, you’re screwed. The most realistic thing you can do is pick one of the last numbers and hope for the best.

Having said that, some users on Reddit were brainstorming and came up with the best idea. Here it is:

This is actually a wild idea, and I’m not sure the red guards would let you cheat like that. However, I’d still take my chances!

Another theory is to work as a group to start throwing your shoes at the glass. If they’d all banded together and taken off their shoes they all could have survived by telling the tempered glass from the normal glass that way.

Squid Game

With a 50 per cent death rate, you’re either a winner or a loser of this game. There’s an offence and a defence position, and you need to choose defence to win. Lure the offence to the edges of the court and push them out of the square. It uses the least amount of energy, and you’re also less likely to murder your childhood friend (R.I.P Sang-woo).

Six-legged race

Surprisingly, the six-legged race had the highest survival rate out of all the Squid Game 2 challenges. There’s really no other way to win this than to pick your biggest strength and roll with it. However, the players with the advantage were definitely those who went further to the end and could watch and learn from the other players’ mistakes.

Mingle

Mingle was one of the hardest games with the highest death rate in Squid Game 2, however, to survive and win wasn’t impossible. You could win by making friends and being “likeable,” as Player 001 explains. If you made a group of around 10/12 of you, you’d always have people to buddy up with and would basically be guaranteed to win. Also, you need to stand as close to the edge as possible to ensure you can get to an empty room on time.

Lights out massacres

While it’s not technically part of any game, people are often goners towards the end of the games when people start getting desperate and fights break out after lights out. How do you survive this? The doctor, Player 111 from season one, explained how you need to “stick with the strongest” to have the best chances of survival. Having said that, Thanos was considered a main man of season two and he met a grizzly end, so maybe just stick with the “good guys.”
