Bristol’s Spotify Wrapped: Where you should go clubbing based on your results

If you’re streaming Taylor and Sabrina, La Rocca is so calling your name

Now that Spotify Wrapped has officially dropped, we took to Instagram to ask Bristol Uni students about their top spot artists and results.

Taylor Swift has been named Spotify’s artist of the year and Bristol students definitely agree, being the most popular response at 21 per cent of answers.

Charli XCX, Lana and Oasis pulled up into joint second place but artists like Loyle Carner and Fontaines D.C. were certainly having their moment too.

From Bowie throwbacks to Brent Faiyaz RnB tracks, Bristol Uni students are clearly the ones to go to for new music recommendations.

1. Taylor, Sabrina and Chappell

Starting off strong, if any of these pop icons were your top artist in 2024, we know you love spending all day yapping in Senate, making life-long friends in queues and pulling out some crazy dance moves in the club.

Your night out has to be at La Rocca or OMG. Guaranteed to hear all of your favourite songs, nobody will mind you performing a full dance routine and a committed karaoke version of HOT TO GO.

Well, they might but don’t let that stop you.

I know a “coffee debrief when you should be studying” hates to see you coming. Not wanting to encourage bad habits, but the East Village Café and Flour House are some of my personal favourites for a procrastination catch-up.

In case you hadn’t realised, I might belong in this category.

2. Charli XCX, Lana Del Rey and Lorde

If any of these artists reached number one, you’re definitely a mysterious cool girl whose outfits and general vibe I envy.

Um hello, when are you finding time to curate a new wardrobe? I feel like I’ve been outfit-repeating in crusty joggers for literally weeks. Please teach me your ways.

Spotted thrifting on Park Street or working in a mysterious corner of the ASS, your eyes should 100 per cent be peeled for themed nights at The Fleece.

From Charli XCX to The Arctic Monkeys, I’m always surprised by some of the crazy-fun themes they’ve concocted. Brat night is absolutely unmissable if Charli claimed your top artist spot this year.

3. Massive Attack, Jungle and Amy Winehouse

If any of these artists are more to your taste, you’re probably seeking a chill, effortless and slightly more sophisticated night out. Emphasis on slightly, let’s not give you too much credit now.

Tuesday at Mr Wolf’s is a must for all live music lovers, alternating between Jazz Funk Soul Society’s open jam and a professional band.

You will get to experience some incredible musicians only at the expense of making you feel completely and utterly incompetent.

I wish I played an instrument…

4. Fontaines D.C., Fleetwood Mac and Oasis

If any of these bands made it to number one, you’re definitely going for the edgy and cool vibe.

And, whilst I would never say it to your face, you lowkey are.

The dark academia photo-worthy potential of Wills is too good to pass up on – even if this does require three laps to secure a seat during deadline season.

For these fans, missing a Thekla Thursday would be criminal.

“But I have a 9am on Friday, I couldn’t possibly go out”.

Said no-one, ever.

5. The Weeknd, Travis Scott and Playboi Carti

With one of these artists claiming first prize, you’re more of an elusive figure.

Maybe you do work, probably in a 24-hour library, definitely in the early hours of the morning, but no one sees you so who knows?

Their night out of choice would be Motion for one of their famous hip-hop or DnB raves.

Only in Bristol could they turn Noah Kahan’s Stick Season into a DnB track and yes, I can confirm it was jarring.

6. Any classical composer

Honorary mention for those of you with their classical study playlist hogging number one. The academic weapons have been done so dirty.

No, seriously Spotify, how can I tell you that no one wants this as their top artist.

Please understand, music is the only thing keeping me sane in the crippling pit of despair that is the ASS.
