Firefighters remained on-site to conduct thorough post-incident safety checks, ensuring the building was secure for residents.

Area Manager Peter Greenslade from the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “This incident demonstrated the strength of a multi-agency approach. By working closely with our partners, we were able to ensure a swift and effective response, safeguarding the residents and containing the fire to the flat of origin. We would like to thank all those involved for their professionalism and teamwork.”

Kitchen fires are among the most common incidents that occur in shared and student accommodation. The Fire and Rescue Service is actively working to educate residents about fire prevention strategies and the importance of maintaining clear communal spaces to reduce risks.

The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has urged residents to take precautions to prevent further kitchen fires, such as never leaving cooking unattended, ensuring fire doors remain closed and regularly testing smoke alarms.
