Why is everyone on Twitter talking about 30-50 feral hogs?

When you went on Twitter today, you might have felt like you were missing a joke. Everyone is tweeting about “30-50 feral hogs”. And not just any old 30-50 feral hogs, they are in your yard three to five minutes away from your small kids playing. But why?! Why is Twitter such a weird place?! I bet you never thought you would read the following words but here goes, here is the hog meme explained.
What is the 30-50 feral hogs tweet everyone is talking about?
So basically everyone started talking about 30-50 feral hogs after one tweet went viral:
It started off the back of a tweet about the tragic mass shootings in the US this weekend. Jason Isbell tweeted saying: “If you’re on here arguing the definition of ‘assault weapon’ today you are part of the problem. You know what an assault weapon is, and you know you don’t need one.”
The tweet got a lot of responses. It began a huge argument over gun ownership in the US.
But one response in particular got everyone talking. William McNabb said: “Legit question for rural Americans – How do I kill the 30-50 feral hogs that run into my yard within 3-5 mins while my small kids play?”
Excuse me what?!
At first you might look at that and think it’s satire but no, he’s serious. William wants to know how a rural American like him is supposed to protect his small kids from 30-50 feral hogs coming into his yard whilst they play if he can’t own an assault rifle.
Twitter went absolutely feral for it themselves, and now everyone is talking about 30-50 hogs. Of course it’s now become subject of a whole bunch of hog memes.
