Why is everyone on Love Island wearing sunglasses in bed? We have the answers
Throwing shade
Plenty of weird shit goes down in the Love Island villa. Megan's wearing Eyal's hoodie long after he's gone home, kisses are happening from different angles, and the narrator is threatening to get involved.
Among that, there's something weirder: sunglasses in bed. At first it was just Samira, and everyone thought it was weird. Now everyone's doing it.

The thing is, nobody knows why. In fact, whether they're admiring or condemning it, most people seem united in their confusion.
Are the islanders worried about looking directly at Jack's teeth in a confined space? Have they had a few too many and need to hide their eyes?
It's probably neither of those. We've got a few theories, though.
Forgetting to take them off before bed?
Write this one off. None of them go to sleep with their sunglasses on. Take Wes on Monday as an example. In episode 31, Wes went to sleep kissing Megan, saying how much he wanted the hideaway, and definitely not wearing anything on his face.
One slow-motion, emotional song montage later, it's morning. Wes is lying in bed and BAM. There are the glasses.
This would have been the Chris 2.0 meme without the glasses, Wes
So it looks like it's something they do in the morning.
Hiding their puffy, sleepy eyes
Ke$ha woke up in the morning feeling like P Diddy. The Love Islanders probably wake up in the morning feeling like…people with puffy eyes like the rest of us. After all, they're only human.
Honestly, this isn't likely given how often they show themselves puffy eyed. Look at Megan waking up.

And cute Charlie's morning eyes.

But maybe it's a Samira thing and it's catching on.
The bedroom is really, really bright, and they just want to shield their eyes after being woken up
Do the bedroom lights get turned on for them? Watch any wake-up shots and the lights seem to fade on until the room's as bright as a club trying to get rid of all their waved punters.

Who wouldn't want to try and carry on sleeping by any means necessary?
Let's dive into the proof. Look at this screenshot taken at 16:41 of Jack and Laura waking up. Notice Jack's eye mask, and the hat on the table at the top of the bed.

Now, this screenshot taken at 16:54 shows Jack with hat, sunglasses AND mic on.

You've sort of woken up, but are in the "hammering your alarm clock to shut up" stage of not wanting to fully wake up. Mic up, hat ON, shades on. Perfect.
Because they're actually awake when the "bed" scenes are filmed, so wear sunglasses to keep their eyes open without it being obvious to the audience
See, there's one problem with that theory. If you wanted to stay asleep, why not just keep the eye mask on? Welcome to the conspiracy section, friends.
Dua Lipa is great, but when she sang "one kiss is all it takes", the Love Island producers clearly weren't listening.
Why? Check this video out, which proves the Georgia/Jack kiss was filmed more than once.
THE KISS WAS FAKE? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US?

Let that seed of doubt grow into a tree, and it's entirely possible the bed scenes we as an audience see aren't the first take. Rather, the lights go on and off, and people rise up over and over as the producers try and get the best angle.
This is where the sunglasses come in. After firmly waking up after the first few takes, instead of having to pretend to be completely asleep like you're portraying a cadaver in Prime Suspect, just whack the sunglasses on, feign sleeping, and your eyes are shielded whilst they do as many takes as possible.
The producers are turning the lights on and off until they get the perfect individual shots of everyone throwing off the duvet, but you're sorted.

Essentially, though, isn't this just the same theory as the bright lights one,
The cameras are really close and they just want a bit of privacy
Celebs have always used sunglasses to shield themselves from close encounters with cameras. Why should the nearly-celebs of the Love Island villa be any different?
Imagine a camera all up in your face, early in the morning as you whisper nearly-palindromic sweet nothings into the microphone wedged in your headboard. You'd want any privacy you could grasp.
This is almost the same backwards as it is forwards
Not only does it keep you shielded, but it stops the narrator figuring out what's going on in your head. As he awoke from a night with Megan, Ian Stirling tried to figure out what had happened with Wes by looking into his eyes. But Wes was clever, and his sunglasses stopped Ian in his tracks.
Okay, this wins on Occam's Razor, but just a bit too dull to be the one you want to believe.
Walk, walk fashion baby
You don't have to be doing bits to work it in the bedroom.
