Ever since Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison after serving eight years for the murder of her mother Dee Dee, she’s become a massive celebrity. She now has over 8.1 million followers on Instagram and 9.5 million on TikTok and paparazzi follow her around everywhere.

According to a psychologist, the world’s obsession with Gypsy Rose comes from a “desire to understand the human psyche in extreme circumstances” and the “bizarre and tragic nature of her story”.

But now people are starting to call out Gypsy Rose Blanchard for being “egotistical”, wanting to be a celebrity, and “milking” her story for fame.

One TikToker @gizellexm posted a video that said: “‘Gypsy Rose would hate all this attention she deserves a peaceful life, you guys are weird’. Gypsy: Comes out and joins TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram, becomes verified, and thanks everyone for her support and advertises her new PUBLIC book and docuseries.”

There are lots of people agreeing with this with one person commenting: “We’re giving her way too much publicity. she’s loving it too” and another person adding: “Fame clearly seems to be what she’s looking for honestly”.

Another TikTok claims they get “off vibes” from Gypsy. The video now has over 1.5 million views and says: “Tell me I’m not the only person getting off vibes from Gypsy Rose Blanchard. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is, but ever since her release, just like the whole hype that happened around her on social media, the way she’s been dropped into this massive influencer role and she’s not batted an eyelid about it. Something just really doesn’t sit right with me.”

Other comments calling Gypsy Rose out include: “Aint we got enough movies about her life though” in response to news that Gypsy Rose wants Millie Bobby Brown to play her in a movie and someone on TikTok saying: “I think it’s time Gypsy disappeared in the background. She’s loving the attention. How much money?”

As well as claims that she’s “getting a bit egotistical now”, people have also stated to claim that Gypsy Rose has started “milking” her story for fame with someone on Facebook suggesting: “Interviews about what happened are one thing. The celeb-like status is weird. I’m happy she’s healthy and free but this is getting a little weird and it feels like she’s starting milking her story for fame.”

As well as gaining millions of followers in the space of a week, it is also suggested that Gypsy Rose currently has a net worth of around $3 million (£2.3 million).
