In the week before Love Island 2023, an ex-girlfriend of George spoke out, and old tweets of his resurfaced. The ex accused him of being controlling, claiming he’s a “liar and a cheat” as well as claiming he was a “narcissist” when they were together. He has also been accused of homophobia, following a string of tweets when he was a teenager being unearthed.

Defending himself over the tweets, George said they made him “feel sick”, and added: “They are not who I am today, they couldn’t be any further from the man I am today.”

He also addressed the video posted by his ex, and said: “I’m looking forward to moving forward with things and going into the villa and just providing a new wave of energy and to prove that the things that have been written about me aren’t true. People can see a different light to me.”

Women’s Aid has already released a statement following the controversy around George.

Putting everything that’s been said about him aside, George assured he’s bringing “good vibes” to the villa. When asked what he’ll bring this year, he said: “Good vibes and high energy. I just want to make an impact in a positive way. I want to be the go-to guy. I’m going to bring my charm, personality, quick wit, good looks, tanned ankles and just smash it!”

However, he did admit that in previous relationships he’s “put himself first” but said he’s now looking to focus on someone else, and wants to give “100 per cent of my time and care to someone.”

He added he’s bringing dad jokes to the villa, and said: “Quick wit and banter is my bag. I’m genuinely funny too, I laugh at my own jokes.”

What gives George the ick?

It’s the most important question of them all, so when asked what gives him the ick George said it’s “when girls clap their hands when they speak or when people put too many exclamation marks in texts, three is enough.” Sure!

He said the most important thing in a potential partner is that they have drive – he wants someone who is passionate about something. He added: “I prefer a girl who is naturally good looking, and someone who has even more banter than me – although I don’t believe that’s physically possible.”

He has 8k followers on Instagram

As he heads into the villa, George has just over 8k followers on Instagram. He only has 10 posts, so it’s not really the best place for getting a grasp of his vibe, but his handle is @georgefensom, if you want to look anyway.

Ahead of joining the cast, George was asked his favourite Love Island moment of all time

George said: “The most iconic was when Ovie used to say ‘Message’, I loved that. Chris and Kem too, those guys had the ultimate bromance and banter.”
