There’s a real reason Simon Cowell always wears sunglasses indoors on The Next Act
It's not a fashion statement
Simon Cowell: The Next Act just released on Netflix, but you might have noticed his habit of constantly wearing sunglasses indoors.
And as it turns out, there’s an actual real reason for this fashion statement, and one that has more to do with health than turning heads.

During the Netflix series he wears both red tinted sunglasses and standard black tinted ones, and has had to wear sunglasses indoors for several years now.
The reason why is because Simon suffers from photophobia, which is an acute sensitivity to light which can cause debilitating migraines.
He previously told The Standard: “The red glasses are because I have lights in my eyes all day long and it’s like a laser and I get migraines and that’s like a filter. They actually do work.”
Simon Cowell also addresses his habit for wearing sunglasses indoors before The Next Act, as he’s previously opened up about it on America’s Got Talent.

He previously explained: “‘I just found out according to the internet, I have a ‘mystery illness’. For anyone concerned, I missed two auditions at the end of one day, two weeks ago, because I do get migraines after long days in the filming lights. PS. This is why I wear these glasses!”
He went into even further detail when America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews explained that the viewers were very curious about why Simon always wear sunglasses indoors.
Simon clarified: “Two reasons Terry, number one, I get migraines. Number two, I don’t sleep well so I found these. They are so good that I am now making my own brand.”
