Here’s the real reason Stassi Schroeder was fired from Vanderpump Rules five years ago
She was 'filled with remorse and regret'
Stassi Schroeder was *the* Vanderpump Rules girl.
So when Bravo suddenly cut ties with her in 2020, it felt huge, even for a show built on scandals.
One minute, she was planning a wedding and selling best-selling books, the next, she was completely gone from the show and dropped by major brands.
The official line was “racially insensitive actions”… but what actually happened?
Let’s rewind to that summer, the Instagram Live that changed everything, and the real story behind Stassi’s firing.
Stassi’s time on Vanderpump Rules came to an end in 2020

Stassi had been a core cast member since Vanderpump Rules premiered in 2013, a total OG.
But in early June 2020, things spiralled fast.
Former castmate Faith Stowers went on Instagram Live and shared an incident from 2018.
She said Stassi and Kristen Doute had called the police on her, falsely linking her to a woman wanted for theft in a Daily Mail story, even though the woman in the photo clearly wasn’t Faith, reported People.
Faith also pointed out she’d been the only Black cast member during her time on the show, which made the situation even more disturbing, given the wider Black Lives Matter conversations happening in the US at that exact moment.
Within days, Bravo and production company Evolution Media announced that Stassi and Kristen would not be returning to Vanderpump Rules.
The network directly tied the decision to their past racially insensitive actions and racist social media posts that had resurfaced.
Why was Stassi fired?
Okay, so here’s the core of it. Back in 2018, Stassi and Kristen saw a news article about a Black woman suspected of theft and decided it “looked like” Faith Stowers.
They reported that “tip” to the police, even though it was not Faith in the photo, and there was no evidence she’d done anything.
Stassi later talked about calling the cops on Faith during an appearance on The Bitch Bible podcast, essentially bragging about it, per Business Insider.
Kristen amplified things on Twitter by sharing the article and implying Faith was the woman in the story, per People.
When Faith went public with her story in June 2020, it landed very differently than when it first happened.
Bravo then stepped in. On June 9, 2020, the network confirmed that Stassi and Kristen were out due to their past racist actions and offensive tweets.
Stassi and Kristen both posted public apologies to Faith, admitting that what they did was wrong and that they’d hurt her.
Stassi later told Tamron Hall she was fired for “past racially insensitive actions” and said she was working with a diversity coach as part of trying to learn from it, via People.
The reality star was also dropped by her agency and multiple sponsors and brands, including shaving brand Billie and vitamin company Ritual.
She posted an official statement at the time that read how she was “taking accountability” and “pushing herself to do better.”
The Pump Rules alum wrote: “…I have grown significantly from the person I was then, and I am still filled with remorse and regret for the hurt I caused.”
