Alex Hall just revealed the shocking real amount Selling The OC agents get paid
And she spilled how much goes to Jason
Alex Hall didn’t exactly whisper, she literally laid it out on Jason Tartick’s Trading Secrets podcast. She’s spreading the news that reality show pay doesn’t always keep up with the real estate money.
In a convo that’s equal parts eyebrow-raiser and industry 101, she questioned the idea of a generous 90/10 commission split and suggested the on-screen life pays far less than we might expect.
That nugget set social timelines buzzing and sparked a bigger conversation about how brokerage splits, production pay, and agent earnings actually mingle when reality TV cameras are rolling.

On Jason Tartick’s podcast, Alex pushed back on the myth that The Oppenheim Group honours a 90/10 split.
She told Jason that her own split with Jason is “gross” and estimated that, across the board, agents are closer to a 70/30 split, meaning agents keep roughly 70 percent of their commission and give 30 percent to their broker.
That 70/30 figure is also widely reported as a common brokerage arrangement in the industry, so her estimate lines up with broader real estate norms.
The two also talked about how agent income from actual closings stacks up against whatever reality show pay the cast receives.
Jason then reminded her: “But, you also do get income from the show, so that has to be a factor for you aswell…” to which Alex replied: “Yeah, but I mean, when you take an agent who has been producing in this field for many, many, many years and is selling multimillion dollar homes and having paychecks that are six figures, that’s hard to beat when you go onto a reality show and you’re making minimum wage…”
She’s getting ripped apart for her ‘minimum wage’ comment
Unsurprisingly, calling reality-show income “minimum wage” stirred up some comments from listeners.
Some commented on the YouTube short of Alex’s episode: “Minimum wage, this one’s a character.”
Another called Alex out and said: “She’s beyond obnoxious. She acts like she’s working at Wendy’s.”
More were seemingly outraged, writing: “Did she just say they get paid minimum wage for the show?! Lmao yeah right!,” “This girl really tried it saying minimum wage,” and “‘Minimum. wage’, try working at Starbucks, Alex!”
Another commented on how the moment felt like “listening to an out-of-touch alien.”
