Mother who gave birth to sextuplets reveals the insane physical toll it took on her body
This is literally unreal
If you’ve ever watched Jon & Kate Plus 8, you’ll know that Kate Gosselin’s journey into motherhood was unlike almost anyone else’s.
Having twins was already a big enough challenge, but adding sextuplets to the mix? That’s the stuff reality TV legends are made of.
But what a lot of people didn’t realise while watching the show back then is just how much of a toll that pregnancy took on her body. Years later, Kate herself has been very open about the lasting effects, and they’re literally unreal.

Kate’s pregnancy with the sextuplets wasn’t just high-risk, it was documented for the world to see.
On the TLC show, we saw glimpses of her journey, from endless hospital visits to the eventual C-section delivery in 2004. At the time, people were mostly in awe of how she managed it all, juggling newborns while already raising twins.
But behind the cameras, her body was being pushed to its absolute limits.
She’s since talked about how extreme that pregnancy really was. Imagine six babies growing at once?! Kate’s stomach was stretched so far that her internal organs were squished into places they were never meant to be.
She’s joked about her stomach being “up under her ribs,” but that was genuinely the case. And her bladder? It was so compressed for so long that it never really went back to normal.
Kate also said that her “body hurt so bad,” she felt like she “knew what it was like to be 80 when she was pregnant with sextuplets because everything hurt all the time…”.
She detailed the lasting effects on her body
In more recent interviews and clips she’s shared online, Kate has been brutally honest about what those nine months left behind.
Some of it is the kind of thing most women never get warned about, like how her bladder lost elasticity and has never worked the same since.
She also went through complications after birth, including tissue that didn’t pass right away and could have turned into a serious infection if doctors hadn’t caught it. “A chunk of something came out, and it turned out a piece of placenta was left in me,” Kate explained.
On top of that, the recovery from her C-section was anything but smooth. She’s spoken about the intense pain, the nausea, and even struggling to walk properly in the weeks afterwards.
For a while, she described herself as “walking like an old lady” just trying to get around. And then, of course, there’s the “hideous” scar and loose skin that stuck with her long after the babies were born, something she eventually addressed with surgery.
