A Love Island USA star is defending his use of the ‘n-word’ with ‘worst response ever’
His private messages were apparently leaked
Since Love Island USA season seven aired this summer, it seems a growing list of contestants are involved in all kinds of controversies. Yulissa Escobar was removed from the villa after a couple of days when a social media clip of her using a racial slur surfaced online. Then, Cierra Ortega was also called out and removed from the show for also using a racial slur. Now, another Love Island USA alum is addressing accusations that he’s done the same.

Love Island USA season five winners Hannah Wright and Marco Donatelli were literally everyone’s favourite couple.
Marco might be one of the last contestants of the show people would think could end up in the midst of controversy. But, he’s taking to his socials to address claims that “leaked messages” of his contain the “n word.”
He took to TikTok to comment on a video that he said is doing the rounds on social media: “I have woken up, and there has been recently a video surfaced of private text messages released about me. I have said the n-word and used offensive terms in my life that affect certain groups.”
People think Marco’s response is ‘the worst ever’
After admitting that he has “used offensive terms” in the past, Marco moved on to say: “There have been a lot of questions and comments about what race I am…”
“I have never met my grandparents on my mother’s side, but what I do know is that we are from Southern Italy where there is a large percentage of people from African descent. To be honest, I don’t know my background.”
Marco continued to add how “his whole life, people have stereotyped him as Black and Italian.”
He added: “I grew up in an environment where I have used this word. And that does not mean it’s OK, but I did it… these were personal and private messages and to be honest this invasion of my privacy is disturbing.”
“I know what I have said is wrong. I am here to address it and I’m not running away from it. These were personal and private messages… that does not make it OK, but I am taking full accountability.”
Reddit users pretty much erupted in the comments section, labelling Marco’s response as potentially “the worst response ever.”
Another wrote: “I thought Yulissa’s was the worst, but this guy stooped even lower.”
However, some seemingly suggested Marco’s response was an improvement on Cierra Ortega’s, writing: “Well at least he isn’t wearing an empathy sweater lol.”
