Here’s who Madelyn Cline’s character in I Know What You Did Last Summer is really based on
It's absolutely not who you'd expect
Outer Banks Star Madelyn Cline stars as Danica Richards in the new reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, and it turns out her character was inspired by a real life reality TV star.
Madelyn appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to discuss how she created her character, who is one of the five teenagers trying to evade the killer.

She revealed that the inspiration came in the form of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Lisa Rinna, with a lot of her characters backstory being inspired by Lisa’s shoulders.
It’s all a bit confusing, so here’s what she said about her I Know What You Did Last Summer character: “I decided to build into her lore that she’s really, really insecure about her shoulders.
“And Lisa Rinna is her idol because Lisa Rinna has a quote that says, ‘I love my shoulders. I love the way my shoulders look in this top.’ And I feel like that’s one of Danica’s affirmations.”
Madelyn recalled that she explained the inspiration for her character to co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar, who then did something very special for the actress.
They secretly got Lisa Rinna to film a personalised video for Madelyn which they showed to her the next day, with Madelyn admitting it was absolutely “incredible.
She added: “She’s the best. She’s so f***ing hot.”
