As the America’s Got Talent season 19 semi-finals arrive and the final is so close the acts can almost taste it, Heidi Klum, 51, reveals how her work life never felt like a chore. She found her beginnings of fame after entering a modeling competition, despite originally aspiring to become a dancer.
Now a world-renowned model and America’s Got Talent judge, Heidi carved out an impressive decades-long career that’s showing no signs of slowing down. While many people in the spotlight struggle with body image issues, body-shaming, and the dark side of fame, Heidi says she never had bad experiences and never had to “watch what she ate,” speaking on The Skinny Confidential podcast this September.

Heidi Klum found her big modeling break in the USA. She tells The Skinny Confidential: “I did a lot of catalogs in the beginning.”
Speaking of her jobs, she tells the show’s co-hosts: “For me, it was never hard.
“I loved it, I never really had to work hard on my body, let’s say, or anything like that. I was just, kind of, the way I was.”
The America’s Got Talent judge continues: “I could always eat what I whatever I wanted. I never had to count calories or not eat certain candy.”
“I was just lucky… I guess because I’m so hyper already, as it is, maybe I just, I needed all the fuel…”
Heidi Klum wanted to be dancer
At the beginning of her interview with Skinny Confidential, Heidi explains how she wanted to be a dancer as a child.
“I had a lot of hobbies, painting, mostly dancing. I did all the kinds of dance you can imagine from belly dancing to hip-hop to ballerina to foxtrot, jazz, you name it, tap… I entered this modeling competition that I found in a magazine, cut out the coupon, sent it in with a few holiday photos of myself and it was a big, big contest that was on television – something that I do right now for 20 years, finding models, and I won this contest. And, that’s how everything got started. I wanted to be a dancer, I wanted to be on stage.”
Now, she gets to see all kinds of people take to the stage on America’s Got Talent, some of which are dancers.
Heidi says with some acts, she thinks: “Why are you not a superstar yet?” but with others who beg the question: “Who told you that you have a talent? Why are you here?”
“That’s what makes it so amazing,” the AGT judge adds.
The model and mom of four says how much she loves the show’s Golden Buzzer.
“Simon [Cowell] is buzzer, trigger, happy, it used to be only once, but now we get to do it [press the Golden Buzzer] in the live shows, every one gets one, I mean he just changes the rules every day…”
She’s been on the show for 11 years and says: “It doesn’t get old There’s a new person that’s doing something crazy.”
