Made In Chelsea is ditching rainy London for sunny Australia in its latest spinoff this December. The Made In Chelsea: Sydney cast features five new locals and nine familiar faces from the usual series. Returning to his homeland is Hugo Mackenzie-Wood, who made his MIC debut in season 26 as Harvey Armstrong’s friend.
Meet Made In Chelsea newbie Hugo Mackenzie-Wood
Not only is Hugo new to MIC, but he’s also a novice to the London scene. Upon his season 26 episode 8 debut, the 23-year-old noted he arrived in the city three months ago from Sydney. He was introduced as Harvey’s Aussie mate to James Taylor and Sam Prince.
Hugo will likely be a cast member to stay as he claims he found it surprisingly easy to get along with Londoners. Maybe he won’t be saying the same thing after a couple of seasons! James, meanwhile, immediately warned him of Sam being the “dodgy bloke”.
So why did he leave Sydney for London? Well, he’s searching for new experiences after “doing the same thing for 10 years” with the same social circle. But since he’s flying to Sydney after just three episodes in the UK, perhaps he’s a little homesick?
He appeared in Home And Away
If you’re a soap opera fan, you may have seen Hugo before. The budding actor appeared as an extra in a March 2020 episode of Home And Away, Australia’s second-longest-running drama series. That same month, he participated in an advert for St George Bank and was an extra for a film called Showboat.
Hugo studied at the Sydney Actors Collective and the Actors Centre Australia.
The TV star is also a model, so he’s definitely confident in front of the camera. It seems he has yet to sign with a British modelling agency.
Hugo is getting close to Bella Sharpe
Not much is known about Hugo’s dating history, but he reportedly describes himself as “very spontaneous” and “someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously”. Mackenzie-Wood is also a self-proclaimed party animal. “On a night out I’m always the last man standing,” he says.
Teasers for the Sydney spinoff show the 23-year-old getting cosy with PR manager and influencer Bella Sharpe, who joined the cast in series 25. The pair are seen laughing together on a date before he admits to a co-star that he “had a really good time”.
Luckily, Bella is based in London so long-distance won’t be on the cards – unless he stays in Sydney.
Olivia Bentley and Hugo fueled dating rumours in October after the former posted an Instagram photo of them smiling as she held his face. “Hey hey lover,” she captioned, but neither party addressed the rumours.
