Season three of The Kardashians started off with a bang and that wasn’t just because their intro featured Beyoncé’s Cuff It. During the first episode, Kim Kardashian details about how difficult it has been being single again and dealing with Kanye West in the press.
Also in the episode, Kim Kardashian sister mentions a rumour she claims Kanye started about her having an affair with Drake, and it’s safe to say everyone was left gobsmacked. But what was this rumour and is there any truth to it? Here’s everything you need to know about the Kim Kardashian and Drake rumour.
It all goes back to the alleged feud between Kanye and Drake
Way back in 2014, Drake said there were some “questionable” elements to Kanye West’s album, Yeezus, something Kanye didn’t take too kindly.
“There were some questionable bars on there,” he told Rolling Stone. “Like that ‘Swaghili’ line? Come on, man. Even Fabolous wouldn’t say some sh*t like that.” The song Drake refers to is Kanye’s I’m In It, in which he raps: “I be speaking’ Swaghili.”
After a few years of shady digs, Drake’s In My Feelings struck a nerve
In 2018, people speculated that the Kiki Drake raps about in the song was a reference to Kim Kardashian, which sparked rumours about the affair.
“People making rumours or thinking you f**k my wife and you’re not saying nothing. That don’t sit well with my spirit,” Kayne said addressing the rumours. “You know if I had a girlfriend from Chicago her name was Renita, you was married to Rihanna, I wouldn’t make no song called Riri. So when you’re like, ‘I don’t know where it came’. You too smart for that bro.”
Kim even shut down the rumours herself. Under a post of Nick Cannon discussing the story on Instagram, Kim commented: “Never happened. End of story.”
In 2021, Kanye reignited the drama around the alleged affair
Despite Kim shutting down the claims years prior, Kanye sparked the conversation again during an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast.
“I had this conversation with Drake,” he said. “It’s like, ‘I never f***ed Kim’. But I was like, ‘But you acted like you did. You got bars that’s like, ‘Hidden Hills give your wife the chills’. It’s like somebody throwing a marble and hiding they hand or something like that. All that’s disrespectful.”
Kim claims it was Kanye who started the rumour
There is no truth to the rumour of Kim Kardashian cheating on Kanye with Drake, and Kim has claimed it was Kanye who started the rumour,
During a scene in the new season, Kim talks with her mother, Kris Jenner, about the claims Kanye has made about the family since their split in 2021.
“I have to sit here and not say anything, ever, because I know one day my kids will appreciate that, and I know that’s the best thing for them,” she told Kris.
“The one that was supposed to protect me, and still does interviews saying they will be my forever protector, is the one that is hurting me the most. He was the one that started that rumour that said I was hooking up with Drake, having an affair – our whole marriage he accused me of that publicly.
“The person that’s supposed to protect me the most publicly would accuse me of having an affair throughout our whole marriage. I really can’t wrap my head around how he thinks he is a protector.”
