A History of Oluwajack and its Meaning
Jack Fowler joined the Love Island crew on day 26, with the term ‘Oluwajack’ starting to surface on Twitter the very next day.
The 23-year-old is from London and plays semi-professional footballer for Harlow Town, in Essex. However, his accent is pretty unusual and unrecognisable.
After hearing his accent, some sections of social media believed that it sounded Nigerian.
With the word Oluwa meaning Our Lord and often making up part of a name, the term ‘Oluwajack’ was given to Jack.

Jack Fowler’s New Nickname
From here, the term took Twitter by storm.
With Jack Fincham the renown Jack of the villa, and ‘New Jack’ lacking a snazzy ring to it, Oluwajack became the preferred name used by many Twitter users.

Jack announced in a later episode that he had family roots in St Helena.
St Helena is a small island that sits between Africa and South America. It’s believed that this is where his unusual accent stems from.
