Richard E Grant accused of SECOND Celebrity Traitors rule break as BBC shares insight
God, this man can’t catch a break
There have only been two episodes of The Celebrity Traitors season two, but already, Richard E. Grant has emerged as a mischievous, rule-breaking troublemaker. Gotta love him.
Just MINUTES after he was named a Traitor by Claudia, Joe Lycett outright asked him, “Are you a Traitor?”
Most people would do everything in their power to dispel questions and rumours, but not Richard. No, he confirmed he was. It landed him on the chopping block for the first banishment, despite his, Maya’s, and James’ dedication to putting the suspicion on other celebs. Only time will tell whether he’s banished, but people reckon the editing of episode two proves he was.
Somewhat addressing the blunder during a radio show appearance this week, Richard said: “I have a tendency to get to the punchline too quickly sometimes.”

Following the first couple of episodes, The Mirror clocked that Richard was wearing two separate scarves and a coat from one particular brand: Burberry.
Now, having a love for extravagant British fashion isn’t a crime, but the BBC does have strict regulations about promotional material. As per its own rules, people appearing on the BBC “must not appear wearing clothing or using products or services which they have agreed/been contracted to promote, advertise or endorse or in which they have a specific financial interest.”
In February of last year, Richard took part in Burberry’s “London in Love” campaign alongside other notable British celebs like Kate Winslet and Naomi Campbell. He later strutted his stuff on the catwalk for the brand and unveiled the Burberry Christmas tree at Claridge’s hotel in November 2025. Even now, he’s on the Burberry website alongside its £2,000 “Burberry Trench” coat.
“Discover our most iconic styles worn by an A-list cast – including actors Kate Winslet and Richard E. Grant – as they explore love, life and the rain against a backdrop of London locations,” the product’s description reads.
Despite what you would assume is a clear rule break, given his relation to the brand he is wearing on The Celebrity Traitors, BBC insiders told The Mirror that no rules were technically broken. He was not an ambassador at the time of filming, they claimed.
Still, even being accused of breaking a rule involving Burberry is incredibly chic, I must say.
